DrCelestineEsume-MBBS,PhD,MRCGP,CCFPDr.CelestineEsumehasalwaysbeenpassionateaboutdeliveringqualityhealthcaretopatientsgenerallyunderhiscareinaholisticapproach.Thispassionledhim to his current chosen career as a Family Physician (General Practitioner).These all started from theMedical School of theprestigiousUniversity of PortHarcourt in Southern Nigeria where he graduated in 1999. He went on toundertakehisinternshipattheBaptistMedicalCentre,EkuinSouthernNigeriaandcompleteditin2001.In2002,hepassedtheFacultyofObstetricsandGynaecologyPrimaryFellowshipExaminationoftheWestAfricanCollegeofSurgeonsandProceededtoworkasaGeneralMedicalPractitionerwithinterestinWomen’sHealthandReproductiveBiologyattheGroupMedicalCentre,WarriinSouthernNigeriabetween2002and2011.DrEsumehasapassionforknowledge;hencehedevelopedaknackforacademicsandresearchandfoundinterestinteachingandresearch.Hepursuedthisfurtherand got appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology andTherapeutics,DeltaStateUniversity,AbrakaSouthernNigeriain2004.HeenjoyedteachingMedicalandotherHealthcarestudentsthesubjectofPharmacology.Hewas involved in different research activitieswithin and outside the Universitycommunity. He had multiple research work published within Nigeria andInternationally.

DrEsumecompletedhisMasters(MSc.)inPharmacologyin2010fromhisMedicalSchoolAlmaMata–UniversityofPortHarcourt.HeproceededtotheUniversityofLiverpoolinUnitedKingdomin2011topurseadoctoratedegreeleadingtotheawardofDoctorofPhilosophy(PhD)degreeinPharmacologyin2016.HisareaofexpertiseisPharmacogenomics. In the United Kingdom, he wrote and passed the prescribed Medical Practitioner qualifying examination and was registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2014. He spent between 2014-2016 working as a Senior House Officer, Resident Medical Officer and as a Medical Registrar in General Medicine in different Hospitals across England. He covered roles in Acute Medicine, Neurology and Geriatric Medicine. With experiences from working in different Medical Units and specialties, he was spurred on to pursue specialist training in General Practice (Family Medicine), at the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery/General Practice School. During the training, he had rotations in Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and spent 18 months in Primary Care setting. He completed the specialist training in Family Medicine having passed all the prescribed examinations. Dr Esume was a salaried General Practitioner (GP) at the North Lincolnshire area until his relocation from United Kingdom to Canada. Dr Esume joins the practice with wealth of experience in the practice of medicine, from Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. He hopes to continue his interest in medical education in teaching tomorrow’s professionals. Dr. Esume holds Memberships of the Nigerian Medical Association, British Pharmacological Society, Royal College of General Practitioner, General Medical Council of United Kingdom and holds Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom.
