Dr Celestine Esume- MBBS, PhD, MRCGP, CCFP Dr. Celestine Esume has always been passionate about delivering quality health care to patients generally under his care in a holistic approach. This passion led him to his current chosen career as a Family Physician (General Practitioner). These all started from the Medical School of the prestigious University of Port Harcourt in Southern Nigeria where he graduated in 1999. He went on to undertake his internship at the Baptist Medical Centre, Eku in Southern Nigeria and completed it in 2001. In 2002, he passed the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Primary Fellowship Examination of the West African College of Surgeons and Proceeded to work as a General Medical Practitioner with interest in Women’s Health and Reproductive Biology at the Group Medical Centre, Warri in Southern Nigeria between 2002 and 2011. Dr Esume has a passion for knowledge; hence he developed a knack for academics and research and found interest in teaching and research. He pursued this further and got appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Delta State University, Abraka Southern Nigeria in 2004. He enjoyed teaching Medical and other Health care students the subject of Pharmacology. He was involved in different research activities within and outside the University community. He had multiple research work published within Nigeria and Internationally.

DrEsumecompletedhisMasters(MSc.)inPharmacologyin2010fromhisMedicalSchoolAlmaMata–UniversityofPortHarcourt.HeproceededtotheUniversityofLiverpoolinUnitedKingdomin2011topurseadoctoratedegreeleadingtotheawardofDoctorofPhilosophy(PhD)degreeinPharmacologyin2016.HisareaofexpertiseisPharmacogenomics. In the United Kingdom, he wrote and passed the prescribed Medical Practitioner qualifying examination and was registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2014. He spent between 2014-2016 working as a Senior House Officer, Resident Medical Officer and as a Medical Registrar in General Medicine in different Hospitals across England. He covered roles in Acute Medicine, Neurology and Geriatric Medicine. With experiences from working in different Medical Units and specialties, he was spurred on to pursue specialist training in General Practice (Family Medicine), at the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery/General Practice School. During the training, he had rotations in Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and spent 18 months in Primary Care setting. He completed the specialist training in Family Medicine having passed all the prescribed examinations. Dr Esume was a salaried General Practitioner (GP) at the North Lincolnshire area until his relocation from United Kingdom to Canada. Dr Esume joins the practice with wealth of experience in the practice of medicine, from Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. He hopes to continue his interest in medical education in teaching tomorrow’s professionals. Dr. Esume holds Memberships of the Nigerian Medical Association, British Pharmacological Society, Royal College of General Practitioner, General Medical Council of United Kingdom and holds Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom.
