Over the last 2000 years, many Poets, Composerand Philosophers have stumbled (become inspired)upon the eternal Divine truths that are in the Divine Principle and the Bible.

Faust is Goethe's most famous work and is considered by many to be one of the greatest works of German literature available.

Goethes drama is based on the mythical stuff of Doctor Faustus, who was said to have sold his soul to the devil.

Goethe's drama expanded the story into a parable, which applies to the entire humanity.

Faust Part One, is a complex story.

It takes place on several levels, the first of which is heaven.

Mephistopheles bet with God, he says he can distract God's favorite human (Faust) away from righteousness, striving to learn everything.

The next scene takes place in Faust's study, where Faust, in despair over the vanity of scientific, humanitarian and religious learning, turns to magic to be met by infinite knowledge.

He suspects, however, that his attempts fail.

Frustrated, he's considering taking his life, but rejects it as he hears the sound of nearby Easter celebrations beginning.

He goes for a walk with his assistant Wagner and is followed home by a stray poodle (like a sheepdog).

In Faust's study the poodle dog turned to the devil (Mephistopheles).

Faust makes a deal with the devil: the devil will do everything that Faust wants as long as he is here on earth, and in exchange Faust will serve the devil in hell.

Faust's agreement, is that if during the timeMephistopheles serves Faust, Faust becomes so happy with anything the devil gives him that he wants to stay in that moment forever, he will die at that moment.

When the devil urges Faust to sign the pact with blood, Faust complains that the devil does not trust Faust's honor.

In the end, Mephistopheles wins the argument and Faust signed the contract with a drop of his own blood. Faust has some relationships and then meet Margaret (also known as Gretchen).

He is attracted to her, and with jewelry and help from a neighbor, Marthe, the devil is pulling Gretchen into Faust's arms. Faust seduces Gretchen and they love together. Gretchen mother die from sleping drug, which are given by Gretchen to get privacy and Faust to visit her. Gretchen discovers that she is pregnant.

Gretchen's brother condemns Faust, challenges him and falls dead because of Faust and the devil.

Gretchen drowns her illegitimate child and is sentenced for the murder. Faust tries to save Gretchen from death by trying to free her from prison.

When he understands that they can not free her, Faust and the devil flees from the site, while voices from heaven proclaims that Gretchen will be saved.

Interpretation:

Goethe's "Faust," written in 1808 is deeply symbolic and reveals symbolically Fall of Man, similar as described in the Divine Principle, about 130 years before Sun Myung Moon revealed it 1936-42.

Mephistopheles bet with God, as the Bible describes Satan violates their rights by spiritual sexually seduce Eva create a "blood ties" with him by "eating the fruit"!

Faust as fallen human is under this spell.

Principles: Eve and Adam's fall means that through an illicit sexual union ended up all mankind under the "spell" of Satan and the fallen angels domination.

"While the voices from heaven proclaims that Gretchen will be saved." = Humanity (Gretchen) will finally be saved, as the Principle describes man final and complete salvation through the new sinless third Adam, the returning Lord and the Blessing through the True Parents.

Another world famous story by Goethe:

The Sorrows of Young Werther (German: Die Leiden des Jungen Werther) is a letter and loosely autobiographical novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, first published in 1774.

Werther was an important novel of the Sturm und Drang period in German literature, and influenced the later romantic literary movement.

It was created during the six weeks of intensive writing from January to March in 1774 and made the 24-year-old Goethe directly one of the first international literary giant.

Of all his works, this book was the most famous.

Towards the end of Goethe's life, a personal visit in Weimar crucial to every young man's journey in Europe.

Compare with the Divine Principle Law of Indemnity

Most of The Sorrows of Young Werther is presented as a collection of letters written by Werther, a young artist of a sensitive and passionate temperament, to his friend Wilhelm.

These give an intimate account of his stay in the fictional village of Wahlheim (based on Garbenheim, near Wetzlar),]whose peasants have enchanted him with their simple ways. There he meets Charlotte, a beautiful young girl who takes care of her siblings after the death of their mother.

Werther falls in love with Charlotte despite knowing beforehand that she is engaged to a man named Albert eleven years her senior

Despite the pain it causes him, Werther spends the next few months cultivating a close friendship with them both.

His pain eventually becomes so great that he is forced to leave Wahlheim for Weimar, where he makes the acquaintance of Fräulein von B. He suffers great embarrassment when he forgetfully visits a friend and has to face the normal weekly gathering there of the entire aristocratic set.

He is not tolerated and asked to leave since he is not a nobleman. He then returns to Wahlheim, where he suffers still more than before, partly because Charlotte and Albert are now married.

Every day becomes a torturing reminder that Charlotte will never be able to requite his love.

She, out of pity for her friend and respect for her husband, decides that Werther must not visit her so frequently.

He visits her one final time, and they are both overcome with emotion after he recites to her a passage of Ossian.

Even before that incident, Werther had realized that one member of the love triangle – Charlotte, Albert or Werther himself – had to die to resolve the situation.

Unable to hurt anyone else or seriously consider murder, Werther sees no other choice but to take his own life.

After composing a farewell letter to be found after his death, he writes to Albert asking for his two pistols, on the pretext that he is going "on a journey".

Charlotte receives the request with great emotion and sends the pistols. Werther then shoots himself in the head, but does not die until twelve hours later.

He is buried under a linden tree that he has mentioned frequently in his letters. The funeral is not attended by any clergy, or by Albert or Charlotte.

The book ends with an intimation that Charlotte may die of a broken heart. "I shall say nothing of... Charlotte's grief....Charlotte's life was despaired of," etc.

Comment: There are similarities also here to the Fall of ManWhere Lucifer as elder male angel - satan corts young Eve.

Eves rightful loving husband is the younger Adam (Werther in the story)

She (Eve) is heartbroken after they both fell!

Immanuel Kant 1724-1804

Kant started from Swedenborg and showed similarities with the dogmatic metaphysics. In 1766 Kant wrote his most important works, Träume eines Geistersehers (“ Dreams of a Spirit-Seer ").

Paradoxically, it is Kant who undertook what could have become a big step forward, at a time when the general mood was already far removed from that of medieval spirituality.

His contemporary Swedenborg, a reputable scientist, had based his description of spiritual world not on any dogmatic assumption but on his actual experience, and he had made a clear distinction between the realm of God and that of finite spiritual beings.

Kant expressed his ambivalent feelings in his early work, Dreams of a Spirit-Seer, Illustrated by Dreams of Metaphysics,' and eventually rejected the idea that it was possible to come to any positive conclusion on the existence of such beings, but in the process he acknowledged the issue and made it clear that he was personally inclined to admit the reality of the spiritual realm.'

Kant's statement in his first Critique sounds rather definitive, both in terms of knowing and in terms of being: "A substance which is permanently present in space, yet without filling it... or a peculiar fundamental power of the mind of intuiting the future by anticipation (instead of merely inferring from past and present events), or, finally, a power of the mind to place itself in community of thought with other men, however distant they may be these are conceptions the possibility of which has no ground to rest upon."

Kant simply applies his critical method and finds no ground to justify any statement on facts that do not fit into his categories of space-time (understood in a Newtonian perspective), even though he was inclined otherwise.

Unlike his predecessors and many of his successors, Kant does not say that substantial, corporeal beings and events in the spiritual dimension are inso facto an absurdity and cannot exist.

He merely says that there is no basis in his system for saying anything about the matter.'

The spiritual dimension is relegated to the realm of faith, where it finds itself in good company: that of God, immortality, and the moral question.

In conclusion, Plato's world of ideas, Kant's Ding an sich, Hegel's Absolute Spirit, Santayana's realm of essence, and even aspects of Husserl's later transcendental-phenomenological idealism, with all their differences seem to have a common deficiency shared by many other views: there is something abstract and unreal in their discourse about transcendence.

Each of these authors is a unique case, and their thought can never be dismissed with the simple comment that they did not properly understand the nature of the world of spirit.

Prolegomena To A Philosophical Inquiry Into The Spirit World

My (Bengt) interpretation of Kant:

Kant was like Swedenborg, and later Freud & Jung, explorers and pioneers to demonstrate the metaphysical, (read spiritual world) reality and impact of our dreams and daily life.

Principle point of strength is clearly evident all those SPIRITUAL laws absolute reality. See the chapter on Indemnity, and satans crime of illicit sexual love, the Blessing and the return of the third Adam.

Schiller 1759–1805A German poet, philosopher, physician, historian, and playwright. During the last seventeen years of his life (1788–1805), Schiller struck up a productive, if complicated, friendship with the already famous and influential Goethe.

On the philosophical side, Letters put forth the notion of der sinnliche Trieb / Sinnestrieb ("the sensuous drive") and Formtrieb ("the formal drive").

In a comment to Immanuel Kant's philosophy, Schiller transcends the dualism between Formtrieb and Sinnestrieb with the notion of Spieltrieb ("the play drive"), derived from, as are a number of other terms

Kant's Critique of the Faculty of Judgment.

The conflict between man's material, sensuous nature and his capacity for reason (Formtriebbeing the drive to impose conceptual and moral order on the world), Schiller resolves with the happy union of Formtrieb and Sinnestrieb, the "play drive," which for him is synonymous with artistic beauty, or "living form."

On the basis of Spieltrieb, Schiller sketches in Letters a future ideal state (a eutopia), where everyone will be content, and everything will be beautiful, thanks to the free play of Spieltrieb. Schiller's focus on the dialectical interplay between Formtrieb and Sinnestrieb has inspired a wide range of succeeding aesthetic philosophical theory.

My (Bengt) interpretation of Schiller:

This fits the description of the principles of a future world without original sin, and a "new reality" based on free sinless exchange with the spiritual world.

The Abel-Type View of Life

Some people regard the progress of history from the medieval to the modern world as a process which has alienated people from God and religion. This is because they view history according to the Cain-type view of life.

The original nature, however, not only pursuesexternal values; it also seeks internal values.

As medieval people were prompted by their original nature to pursue internal values, a movement arose to revive Hebraism which bore fruit in the Protestant Reformation.

The Reformation spawned philosophies and religious teachings which developed a multi-dimensional view of life seeking to realize the God-given, original nature of human beings.

We call this the Abel-type view of life.

Even as the Cain-type view of life led away from God and faith, the Abel-type view of life guided modern people to seek God in a deeper and more thoughtful way.

The German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) analyzed philosophically the internal and external pursuits of the original nature, thus pioneering the Abel-type view of life in the philosophical sphere.

In his Critical Philosophy, he assimilated the conflicting theories of empiricism and rationalism.

According to Kant, our various sensations occur by contact with external objects.

These alone may give us the contents of cognition but cannot actualize the cognition itself.

To have full cognition, one must possess certain forms of intuition and thought (which are a priori and transcendental) with which to unify the various contents (which are a posteriori and experiential) through a synthetic judgment.

These forms of intuition and thought are the very subjectivity of the self.

Therefore, cognition is actualized when the various sensations coming from external objects are integrated and unified with one's subjective forms by the spontaneous action of thinking and understanding.

Thus, Kant overturned empiricism, which held that cognition is determined by external objects, and established a new theory that cognition is governed by the subjective mind. Kant's philosophy was succeeded by a number of idealist philosophers: Johann G. Fichte (1762-1814), Friedrich Schelling (1775-1854) and G.W. F. Hegel.

Hegel, in particular, pioneered a new philosophy based on the Hegelian dialectic.

Their idealism solidified the Abel-type view of lifein the field of philosophy.

As Heb. 8: 5 puts it "what they earn is a shadow of the heavenly things ...". the invisible material world is a greater reality than the visible world the invisible material world is subject to the visible material world.

Just as the soul of man is subject to the visible body. "

Steiner believed that such discipline and training would help a person to become a more moral, creative and free individual – free in the sense of being capable of actions motivated solely by love.

Steiner describes Christ's being and mission on earth as having a central place in human evolution:The being of Christ is central to all religions, though called by different names by each.

Every religion is valid and true for the time and cultural context in which it was born.

Christ Second Coming would become manifest in non-physical form, in the "etheric realm" — i.e. visible to spiritual vision and apparent in community life

Visions

Hildegard says that she first saw "The Shade of the Living Light" at the age of three, and by the age of five she began to understand that she was experiencing visions. She used the term 'visio' to this feature of her experience, and recognized that it was a gift that she could not explain to others.

Hildegard explained that she saw all things in the light of God through the five senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. (exactly as DP explains)
