Located in the West Royalty Business Park,Medallion Trading PEI Inc. specializes in premium cold smoked Atlantic salmon. The company is owned and operated by two entrepreneurs who have gone through the PEI Provincial Nominee Program.

Fawzy Atta, his wife, and their two sons moved to PEI in July 2014, as part of the Provincial Nominee Program. There were many factors that led to Fawzy starting Medallion Trading PEI Inc. Fawzy has always had an appetite for delicious salmonand has also worked within the seafood industry. When he arrived in PEI, he realized that there was good supply and demand for salmon within the local market. There were also opportunities to grow the market throughout Canada and the United States.

One year later, David Chen, his wife, and their two sons also arrived in PEI through the Provincial Nominee Program. Through mutual contacts, David and Fawzy were introduced. Shortly thereafter, the two men became business partners and David joined Medallion Trading PEI Inc. as ChiefOperating Officer, while Fawzy maintained his role as the company’s CEO.

Fawzy and David remain busy as they grow Medallion Trading PEI Inc. With five different flavors to choose from, MedallionTrading PEI Inc. has a strong focus on offering a high quality product. Not only does the company offer tasty products, butthey also offer healthy options. All of their salmon is kosher, a natural source of omega-3, gluten free, with zero trans-fat.

The company’s products can be found in local Sobeys’ stores, while Fawzy and David have also been able to access markets for their salmon in Ottawa and Chicago. With the popularity of smoked salmon and the quality of their product, Fawzy and David are confident that their business will continue to grow and flourish. “You have to love your product and the industry you are about to enter,” said David.
