How do I execute “Distributed Scrum” correctly?

What is the cost?

Distribution vs. Separation

Contracts to support cooperation

This is not a free ride

Improvise to get somewhere

All you need is a personal touch• Respect

• Start with educating the team

• Use video conferences

• Provide live streaming

• You are not “just working here”

• Share more about yourself

Take no chances• Hire good people

• Share same time-zone

• Suggest “Deputy Scrum Master”

• Never let loose

• Personal contact

There is a lot what you can do

• Daily stand-ups in 15 minutes

• Shared backlog

• Velocity as with collocated teams

• Feel as a single team, feel the common purpose

And is still a price to pay• Short iterations

• One product at a time / pair programming

• Limiting work in progress

• Cultural similarities vs. differences

• Inertia

• Shared information field

There is no predefined road
