Disrupting the future of

Software

the Aviarc story so far

Shane Mercer (shane@aviarc.com)

What I’d like to share:

1. Our story – from Infrastructure to

Software and beyond

2. Our changing organisation

3. The changing face of the Software

landscape

4. Lessons learnt and valuable insights

Talk to me about more details

1. Our Story

About Us

• Established in 1993, providing Infrastructure Consulting services.

• In 2003, looking for growth, entered Software Development market. Had

very different outcomes compared with what we were used to.

• In 2004, conceived Aviarc – used a conceptual model to drive the innovative

thinking required.

• From 2005, we had customers – so we could learn more about their needs

and how to shape our offering.

• In 2009, started looking for global strategic partners – we mapped out all the

global players and ranked them. We did this early to learn.

About Us

• In 2012, we finished the “engine” and started the go to market phase.

• In 2013 restructured for growth, now running as one company with a single

mission and approach.

• Now: 70 staff located several countries, Head Office in Wellington New

Zealand.

• Substantial intellectual property protected by a raft of interlocking (process

type) patents.

• First fully integrated software design and development platform in the

Cloud.

Disruption

is not for

the faint

hearted

especially a Disruptive Platform

Using disruptive thinking,

we will revolutionize the

software industry

All of our thinking around Aviarc, stems from this Core attitude

“What the future

will look like

because of

Aviarc.” The following is a story about productivity

Imagine that anyone could

have created this car

Engineers

Innovate

by anyone

Ideas are conceived and fully

without needing deep technical

knowledge.

During describe, everything in

here is created via data/test

unambiguously design it for

the Construct phase

This layer takes care of

mapping the real world

to the UX

The UX Layer (UXL)

operates on datasets i.e.

a UX either transforms or

The golden triangle

Work done in software to

optimize a process

SOA Process Centric (BPM) User Centric

With separation of these three contexts you get

unbelievable benefits in adaptability, reduced complexity and optimization

Work done is software to manage data,

security & transactions and support

application integration enterprise wide

Java, .Net, DLs, SQL

Enterprise / Data Centric

Work done in software to optimize the users workload

Keeping things simple can

be really hard

Getting the best out of Strategic Partners

• Homework – think of

them like a customer

• Patience - they are

often the largest

companies in the

world

• Leverage and Persist
