ROYAL COURT THEATRE DESIGN BOARDS
THE BRIEF
Communicate the development work the theatre does to their current audience. It is important that the outcome sits within the current architecture as the theatre building is a listed building. The solu-tion should not distract the audience from the plays being staged.
AIMS
Communicate the development work the theatre does for young writers and practitioners, to their existing audience.
OBJECTIVES
Design that the theatre goer can interact with. Must be able to be produced on a limited budget.
KEYWORDS
Engaging, interactive, communicate, low budget.
CONCEPT
Design a set of drinks coasters that show the development work the theatre does for young and emerging writers and practitioners. The drink coasters will be placed in the theatre’s bar so the audience will be able to see the information when attending the theatre. Drink coasters could be a method the theatre use to promote plays that are being in the future at the theatre.
CONTENT
The content for the seven drink coasters.

FRONT OF THE COASTERS
The logo will be on the front of each of the seven drinks coasters. This will give the theatre the opportunity to use drink coasters to announce future events with the theatre bar. This is a low cost and more engaging alternative to promotional flyers.
COASTER 2
Current development for the 30 languages coaster. Again the final design will not be black and white. I just wanted to get the design as I want it before I start adding colour.
COASTER 1
This is not the final design for the coaster. Shows current progress witht he symbol I am using to show the theatre works in 70 countries. The final design will not be black and white.
COASTER 3
Coaster that shows when the theatre was founded. As with the previous coasters. This is not the final design. I will hopfully have the final design be a photograph of the above design as a neon sign.

THE ROYAL COURT THEATRE.COASTER 4
Design that shows the theatre read over 3,500 unsolicited scripts a year. Again not the final design. Will be trying to make this design out of steel girders. Using the photograph on the drinks coaster.
COASTER 6
Current design development as per previous coasters. I would quite like to stitch the design in to fabric and photograph the results.
COASTER 5
This is my current design development. Thinking of embossing these designs in to the drink coaster.
COASTER 7
Showing how many people visit the theatre a year. To progress with the design I will scan in theatre tickets and create the design using a collage.
