THE CHURCH VIS ITOR
The Heart of Advent Over the next two weeks, we will have some of the most significant services of Advent for our church. Sunday, of course, we have our Choir Cantata and the culmination of this group’s hard work and dedication for many weeks. It has been a blessing to me each year I have been here. The all church Christmas Party is this Sunday also, and then next weekend we have our wonderful Christmas Eve service and Christmas Sunday. Our Sanctuary is in its full holiday regalia and at its most beautiful. We find ourselves filled with the joy of the season and enjoy the time spent with those we love both at home, but also here at church.
But, my sisters and brothers in Christ, there are many around us each day who have not found the true meaning of this season. The world tells them about getting, instead of giving; and the more we get, the better it is. But, in Christ, we receive the gift that goes on without end and fills the emptiness that so many experience. So, this Christmas season, let’s turn our thoughts to the many lost souls we encounter each day and each week. Invite them to join us the next few weeks and let us work together to share with them about the love we have found from the Babe in a manger to a Savior on a Cross.
Hunger for the Word
This past Sunday I mentioned having some really nice study Bibles that could be given out, and after church I turned around and they were gone! People are truly hungry for the Word of God at Richland Hills, and I know that God is at work in this place. More of the Bibles will be available this coming Sunday as well.
We are not asking for money for the Bibles, but people have offered to give to a Bible Fund to offset some of the expense. So…… if you need a Bible, take one - and if you want to help with this fund, donate.
One of my goals as your pastor is to ensure every member of our congregation has a good Study Bible so that our faith will grow stronger and our love for God deeper. Our hearts will desire to serve with greater passion - what a place this will be!

Quote: Who Moved My Pulpit? by Thom S. Rainer
“Churches should never have periods lacking urgency. We have the most important message to give to the world. The gospel is the only way of salvation. Millions upon millions need to hear the message. The local church is one of God’s key instruments for sharing the Word and love of the gospel.”
Quote: The Principle of the Path by Andy Stanley
“So pay careful attention to what you are paying attention to. Pay attention to the things that are competing for your attention. Pause before devoting your attention to anything. And devote special attention to those things that deserve your attention. For as Jesus said, your eye is the lamp of your entire body. And if your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
“Seek first the kingdom of God…” —Matthew 6:33
