Mr. David T. Evans, 79, of West Point diedSunday, July 11, 1999, at Hospice LaGrange inLaGrange, Ga.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday,July 13 at 11 a.m. at Davidson Baptist Churchin West Point with the Revs. Bill Smith and JayKnight officiating. Burial will follow inMarseilles Cemetery in West Point.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, SaraSpraggins Evans of West Point; his daughterand son-in-law, Patty and Bobby Gray of WestPoint; his grandson, Shawn Gray of Lanett;two sisters, Rene Smith and ThelmaMcClendon, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; andthree brothers, Ovie Evans of Florala, BuddyEvans of Pensacola, Fla. and Raymond Evansof Albany, Ga.

Born Sept. 29, 1921, in Adar Springs, Ga., Mr.Evans was a charter member and deacon ofDavidson Baptist Church in West Point. He wasa retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell'sLanett Mill with 32 years of service. Mr. Evanswas owner and operator of a locksmithbusiness for many years. He was a veteran ofWorld War II, having served in the UnitedStates Army. Mr. Evans was a former memberof Long Cane Masonic Lodge. He was an avidcraftsman in woodwork.

The family will receive friends Monday eveningfrom 7 until 9 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Homein West Point.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may bemade to the Davidson Baptist Church, theLanier Health Service in Valley or HospiceLaGrange in LaGrange, Ga. in memory of Mr.Evans.
