YYEEHH Hey Dragons! Thank you so much for electing me as your Lt. Governor for 2013-2014. I have big shoes to fill and I hope that I will be able to carry on the legacy of Division 32. While keeping up with the traditions of my predecessors, I will try my best to implement my new ideas for fundraisers and member recognition. I am looking forward to working with each and every one of you thorough the year. You’re all amazing officers and members and I know that together we can make this upcoming year great.

DISTRICT PROJECT:

2012-2013

JAMAICA Jamaica is known for its blue Caribbean beaches, its rich blue mountain coffee, Bob Marley, the world’s fastest runner –Usain Bolt, and its food, but people often fail to recognize the hardships and troubles the people face in this paradise.

OUR DISTRICT PROJECT This year’s District Project is project: EDUCATE. The goal of this project is to improve the quality of education one school at a time. It is the first ever joint-project between the Pacific Northwest District and the Jamaica District.

OUR GOALS Our monetary goal is $30,000 , and with this money we will aid three different schools in Jamaica. Our

goal is to provide library equipment, such as computer and printers and classroom supplies, such as pencils and notebooks. Another goal is to rebuild the library of Wakefield Primary school, which was

burnt down in April. Additional contributions include funding the tuition of two students for the

2013-2014 school years.

For more info, visit: http://bmhphotography.wix.com/projecteducate

OUR PROGRESS Currently we are partnered with EduFocal Jamaica and UNICEF Jamaica. EduFocal Jamaica will provide online assistance to students throughout the country, while UNICEF Jamaica will bring greater attention to this project.

DIVISION 32 FUNDRAISERS Hey Key Clubbers! For the next few months, we are going to be having a lot of fundraisers focused on project: EDUCATE. The main fundraiser will be the PE shirts and the Masquerade Mash in December. Education is important for all children, so let’s give every child the same opportunities we have.

Upcoming Fundraisers: December 29: Key Club Masquerade Mash January 19: Panda Express Fundraiser

K

$2 = Protection for mother +

future babies

What is MNT? In 38 countries around the world maternal

and neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly

turn the joy of childbirth into a tragedy.

MNT kills one baby every nine minutes. Its

effects are excruciating – tiny newborns

suffer repeated, painful convulsions and

extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There

is little hope of survival and tetanus also kills

the mother.

Why focus on this issue?

It is unacceptable that newborns and their

mothers suffer from such an easily

preventable disease. It is also a great

opportunity for us to reach out to the

poorest mothers and newborns and be

able to provide lifesaving healthcare.

Developing a delivery system for these

vaccines will greatly help families in third-

world countries.

How does Key Club help?

With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis

International and UNICEF have joined

forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal

tetanus. It will take $110 million to fund all

the vaccines, syringes, safe storage,

transportation, thousands of skilled staff &

more—and the dedicated work of UNICEF

and every member of the Kiwanis family.

What is your favorite quote?

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on

the lights” ~Albus Wulfric Percival Brian Dumbledore

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

The power to control probability, then I’d be able to do anything. IN theory, there’s a

chance that anything could happen or not happen, and if I could control probability,

I’d be able to increase or decrease the chances of things happening and the odds

would ever be in my favor. Hurhur.

If you were stuck on an island, what three items would you bring with you?

I wouldn’t be stuck on an island because I’d be able to control probability, okay

fine…my iPod (with unlimited batter), unlimited supply of books, and unlimited food and

water (the good kind, not nasty MREs).

What is your favorite part of Key Club?

I love the sense of community in Key Club and how the passion for service can bring

people together. It’s nice to be able to work with and build relationships with a bunch

of cool people with fat hearts.
