Customising the Desktop

Customise the Desktop to make the computer more personal

Right-click on the desktop and click the Personalise option

Select from the preloaded themes

Or change the desktop background individually

Choose any picture type or a solid colour

Choose any picture type or a solid colour

Click Save to apply changes

Installing ShortcutsShortcuts allow quick access to frequently used programs

Select program you wish to create a shortcut for from Start, All Programs

Right-click and select Send To, Desktop (create shortcut)

The shortcut can now be found on the desktop

Using System Configuration

System Configuration can help identify problems that might prevent Windows from starting correctly

Access System Configuration in Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools

The General tab includes selection of basic startup configurations

The Boot tab includes selection of boot location and some boot options

The Services tab shows all current services. Services can be enabled/disabled here to identify possible problem-causing services.

The Startup tab shows all startup items. Startup items can be enabled/disabled here to identify possible problem-causing items.

The Tools tab shows several tools which can assist in identifying/solving problems with your computer
