CREATIVE AND ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION OF A “CUELEBRE”

As one of the final products of our Comenius project “ANIMAL PROTECTION IN EUROPE” we have created an ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION OF A “CUELEBRE”, a Spanish mythological animal.

It has been done by the students of the fourth year Secondary Education in the subject of Plastic and Visual Education.

CUELEBRE

It is half a dragon, half a snake. It has a huge mouth with sharp teeth , snake body and bat wings. Its body is covered by scales. It lives in caves and one of its works is to watch treasures.

It all started with a school drawing contest about Spanish mythological animals.

The winner was a drawing of a CUELEBRE.

All the structure has been made using recycled material which has been collected by students for weeks.

The head and tail are made using plastic bottles and CDs simulating scales.

The wings are made with an old, broken umbrella. The body with two empty big water bottles from the water machine in the school teachers´room. The scales are made with blue and red plastic candles containers.

Different colour pieces of paper are introduced inside some bottles to make it more colourful.

The end of the long tail is also done with the plastic candles containers.

And the students who made it with the idea and help of the Art Teacher Esteban Bernal.

It has been hung from the ceiling in the school, where it will remain for many years.
