We have delayed Q3 Issue of 2013 due to activities of SANGAM-13 and
hence we have combined Q3 issue with Q4. We are happy to bring this
issue Q3 & Q4 issue of Apps GITA 2013 with good knowledge sharing articles. We have put all of our efforts in making this issue more interesting
and knowledge sharing. Some of the articles are from SANGAM-13 event
Apps Track. This year SANGAM-13 was held on November 8-9, 2013, at
Hotel Katriya, Hyderabad.
Even though this magazine has been started keeping view of Oracle
E-Business Suite Customers, we do not want to limit to Oracle EBS only.
We accept articles on other applications such as PeopleSoft, JDE, and Siebel
etc. We request all end users of Applications sign up for the subscription of this magazine to enjoy the benefits of articles from Industry Experts/Gurus.
We welcome feedback on this magazine so that we can improve further in

India OAUG, an affiliate of Oracle Applications Users Group
India OAUG, affiliate of OAUG, is active since 2004 and conducting various
webinars in every year. As of now membership to India OAUG is free and
new members are signing up to the forum every year. India OAUG is also
co-hosting events SANGAM with All India Oracle User Group and Java User Group since last year. India OAUG is conducting several educational series
Webinars from Oracle.
All registered members can use the facility of List Server to share their knowledge or post their queries on Oracle Applications. Any member may
answer the related query in List Server which should definitely help not
only the originator but also the entire community.
Under Resource section, several webinar presentations have been uploaded
in the resources section of India OAUG website. These are available for free
download. Please register to India OAUG from membership section of

India OAUG has also launched Projects Special Interest Group (SIG) this
year with Manish Shheth as Projects SIG coordinator. All users of Oracle
Projects/Property Manager users can enjoy the knowledge sharing,
networking with similar industry peers.
India OAUG is also participating in several Customer Events that are
planned by Oracle Customer Care. In this process India OAUG is planning
to start Regional Chapters to have more networking with Oracle Applications Users. India OAUG has received such initiative from various
Customers in Coimbatore. Planning to start Southern Regional Chapter
(India OAUG South Special Interest Group) under the leadership of Mr.
Karunanithi, Head IT, Suguna Poultry. More on this will be updated in the
next issue.

SANGAM-13 co-hosted by All India Oracle Users Group and India Oracle
Applications Users Group was held on November 8-9, 2013 at Hotel Katriya,
Somajiguda, and Hyderabad.
Around 535+ participants have attended this event which includes
speakers on various tracks, customers, individuals, Oracle Speakers,
partners, members from sponsoring partners for SANGAM-13.
On the first day Murali Vallath, President of All India Oracle Users Group
welcomed all participants. Nagaraj Paduvare, Oracle User Group Relationship Manager, Oracle, India has discussed “User Groups: Why
should you join” and subsequently welcomed Keynote Speaker along with
Murali Vallath.

On the first day keynote was delivered by Sandeep Mathur, Managing
Director, Oracle India on “How to Win at Managing Big Data”. Sandeep
had explained very well on Big Data and Oracle Strategy and roadmap on Big Data.
This Year SANGAM-13 being 5th SANGAM, all user group leaders were
presented mementos by Sandeep Mathur.
This year SANGAM-13 committee planned 6 break-out sessions three for Tech Track two for Applications Track and one for Operating Systems Track.
Arup Nanda, well-known ACE Director had delivered various breakout
sessions on Oracle Database 12c. Several technical folks including DBAs have attended these sessions.
Several exciting sessions in all other tracks from Customers, Partners and
individuals were available.

During Tea breaks and Lunch breaks, vendor demonstrations were
arranged by Sponsoring Partners. This year SANGAM-13 was sponsored by
Oracle (Platinum Sponsor), Apps Associates and FCS (Gold Sponsors) , PalominoDB, Doyensys (Silver Sponsor), KBACE (Bronze Sponsor) , Oracle
Technology Network, Oracle Magazine, Oracle Press (Supporting Partners)
Breakout sessions on the first day ended at 4:00 pm and several hands on sessions were planned on various technologies, including networking
session with Harsh Takle, Head of India Localizations, Oracle HQ. Oracle
User Experience Team had also hands-on sessions with select
participants/customers, first time in APAC and this was quite successful.
Based on the previous year’s feedback, hands-on sessions were kept and
SANGAM-13 had planned no breakout sessions during such time, which
helped interested participants to sign-up for hands-on session.
On the second day, Chitti Babu, Chairperson, India OAUG had briefed about
India OAUG and welcomed Keynote Speaker.
On the second day, keynote was delivered by Murali Subramanian, Group Vice President (Fusion Applications), Oracle India Development Center on
“Leveraging Oracle Applications Investment”. Murali had explained about
Oracle Strategy on Oracle Applications and had covered Oracle EBS and
subsequently Oracle Fusion Applications.
Followed by the Keynote, Denis Jaume, Senior Director, Global Software
Support, Oracle USA had discussed on the topic “Get Proactive with Oracle
Support” and had shared several important My Oracle Support Notes that may be useful to User Community such life cycle advisors, upgrade
advisors, Period Close Advisors.
Immediately after the two main keynotes, several breakout sessions were
conducted in six tracks out of which three for Technical, Two for Applications and one for Middleware.
As in the previous day, Vendor Demonstrations were arranged during Tea
and Lunch breaks and several participants were engaged visiting Sponsors and understand the services offered by them.

At the end of the break-out sessions, Oracle support Panel had deputed
specialists in respective areas and these specialists had interaction with
several individuals in clarifying their technical queries which was very interesting.
SANGAM-13 Committee had selected few participants by randomly picking
up from feedback form submissions and these were presented by Oracle Press Books which had excited participants.
This year SANGAM-13 Committee had provided SANGAM PASSPORT which
has enforced all of the participants to visit all vendor demonstrations and Vendors had to post it on the SANGAM PASSPORT. Participants were asked
to submit these on the second day.
Three SANGAM PASSPORTS were picked up and they were presented KINDLEs. An awaited excitement to all Participants.
Finally, Murali Vallath had given Closing remarks by giving special thanks
to all the event sponsors without whose help SANGAM would not have been
successful. SANGAM-13 Committee expresses sincere thanks to all Sponsoring Partners, Volunteers (Individuals) who have taken active
participation in all kinds of arrangements and make this as BIG SUCCESS!!!

E-Business suite testing approach It is observed from several case studies of typical upgrade projects of
Oracle E-Business Suite that 30-50% of effort is spent in testing. Of this
effort only 1/3 of the effort is spent in actual testing. Finding the defect
early in the software development life cycle saves a huge cost than finding it in production.
Testing is performed for all New
Releases, Release Update Packs (RUP), Consolidated Patches, New
features & Bug Fixes, Technology
changes such as RDBMS and iAS
version changes and Legislative
and Regulatory changes.
Typical testing includes enhancements testing, regression testing, business flows testing, integration testing, accessibility testing, security testing, and
impact of technology changes in functionality and interface testing when
interacting external/third-party systems.
Test scoping is defined by including the baseline flows, code changes made in the release, impacted areas due to new features and bug fixes, use cases
from customers.
For all new releases it is good to involve various stakeholders such as
Support, Consulting, Customers and Partners in testing to get an early feedback.

Stakeholder Testing
Recommended Approach
It is recommended to have three important phases for testing.
Prepare: Prepare for patch uptakes and upgrades by going through the
available documentation like patch readme, notes on My Oracle Support
(MOS), Release Content Document (RCD), Functional Impact Document. Use Patch Wizard and Upgrade Advisor to understand the scope of the
patches to be applied and tests to be executed.
Plan: Plan the tests that have to be executed in a 4 step process: Generate, Refine, Prioritize and Measure.

Test cases can be generated using Mind Map tools. A Mind Map is
a diagram used to visually outline information. A mind map is often created around a single feature, placed in the center, to which associated ideas,
words and concepts are added. Categories can represent Process,
Preconditions, Provocations, Perspectives and Play.

Once test cases are conceptualized, they have to be refined based on pair-
wise algorithm and optimize so that only sufficient combinations are
identified.

The refined test case set has to be measured based on feature, sub-feature
to ensure that the impacted features are not missed out in testing.
Test cases should be prioritized to ensure that a maximum coverage is attained within the available time and resources.
Prioritization of test cases should be performed at each level: Base Line
Coverage, Intermediate Coverage, and Detailed Coverage
Base Line Coverage: Basic business flows should be tested. All key features
should be tested to ensure the sanity of the system. This coverage is
recommended for technology changes, infrastructure changes and security
patches uptake.
Intermediate Coverage: Specific business flows should be tested. Key
features of impacted business flows should be tested. Bug fix analysis
should be done to get the inputs on specific areas to be tested. This is recommended for product fixes and consolidations uptake.
Detailed Coverage: Detailed business flows should be covered. Full feature
tests for implemented products should be covered. Business flows across
modules and data variations should be included. This is recommended for

RUP (Release Update Packs), Upgrades, New Releases, and deployment of
new Products.
Perform: Perform testing with identified test scope and validate the
output.
All pre-requisites should be validated. Several diagnostic reports are available which can help to validate configurations, key flexfields, setup,
etc. Results of diagnostics reports need to be validated for any anomalies,
which might cause issues in business flows.
Use various test oracles to validate the data resulting from complex
transactions and compare the intended output with actual output.
Leveraging Automation for E-Business Suite of Applications
Two types of test automation can be envisioned one being Web Services
based and the other UI based.
Web Services based testing has the following advantages: Reduction in the cost of development for huge number of
transactions and data variants
Significant reduction in execution time
Absolutely no impact in the product due to UI Changes
In the case of UI based testing, maintainability (because of changes in UI),
reuse and high initial investment are challenges.
Oracle Application Testing Suite (OATS) is the Oracle’s solution for Testing
Oracle Applications to ease out the challenges of UI based test automation.
OATS comprises of three components Oracle Functional Testing suite for
Oracle Applications, Oracle Load Testing suite for Oracle Applications and Oracle Test Manager.
Oracle Functional Testing Suite for Oracle Applications provides Functional
and Regression testing capabilities, Web and Oracle Application Testing Accelerators and Oracle Flow Builder.

Oracle Load Testing Suite for Oracle Applications has Load and Performance
testing capabilities, Web and Oracle Application Testing Accelerators,
Smart integration with EM diagnostics.
Oracle Test Manager has Test Planning, Requirements and Test Cases,
Defects Tracking, Reporting.
Oracle Functional Testing suite for Oracle Applications is optimized solution
for automating EBS Testing and is equipped with Open Script (which is
also similar to traditional record and Playback) with accelerators for Oracle
Applications.
Oracle Flow Builder can help customers reduce the time and expertise
needed to create and maintain automated test scripts for Oracle E-Business
Suite 12.1.3 and 12.2. This is data independent, easy to maintain and can be easily be used by non-technical people.

Oracle Flow Builder comes with EBS pre-built test content consisting of
2000+ components and 200+ business flows. Using these standard seeded
components and flows, one can create and maintain their own test scripts. The flows can be updated to include additional components or bind the
required test. Users can create new components for customizations in the
application.
Oracle Flow Builder has EBS pre-built test content in the following modules
in the current release:
Financials, Procurement, Projects, HCM, Order Management, Logistics,
Manufacturing, Asset Life Cycle Management, Service and Master Data management
Oracle EBA Quality assurance team has reduced automation time by 60%
with the help of Oracle Flow Builder.

Oracle Flow Builder is keyword driven componentized framework.
66 keywords are available to perform various actions on the objects in EBS application. Example: Click, SetText, SelectLOV.
Components are sequence of key words to perform an action such as
Create Order Header, Approve Order. The components can be used across multiple flows. Components that are frequently used in a specific order can
be grouped together to form component sets.
Flows are assembling of components/component sets in a sequence to orchestrate a business process. Ex: Order to Cash, Procure to Pay.
Populate data in the assembled flows to complete the flow and generate
the automated test script.
With Oracle Flow Builder and the EBS pre-built test content, EBS customers
can jump start their testing to reduce cost of TCO and achieve quick ROI.

In the previous issues of AppsGITA concepts of SLA (Sub Ledger
Accounting) and brief technical overview along with key My Oracle Support
Notes were discussed.
Just to recap, SLA has five components: Ledger, Subledger Accounting
Method (SLAM), Application Accounting Definition (AAD), Journal Line
Definitions (JLD) and Sources.
Ledger: There are two sets of ledgers Primary which is for transactional
accounting and secondary is for statutory/management/consolidation.
Legal entities are associated with Primary Ledger.
SLAM: Accrual with Encumbrance accounting, Cash with Encumbrance
accounting, Standard Accrual, Standard Cash and US Federal Accounting
are seeded methods. In general, Standard Accrual method is most
commonly used SLAM.
AAD: comprises Event Classes and Event Types
Event Classes are Transaction types for accounting rule purposes such as
adjustments, Receipts, Transactions, Bills Receivable etc. Event Types are actions for each transaction type such as Receipt Created, Receipt
Reversed, etc.
JLD: JLD has Journal Line Type (JLT), Account Derivation Rules (ADR),
and Journal Entry Description (JED).
Sources: Sources component allows users to specify optional information
that can be configured. Supporting references can be configured to capture
additional information.

SLA will definitely improve accounts reconciliation to a greater extent. This
improvement in reconciliation of accounts is possible because of Transaction Level journals, Transaction details, Drilldown features, and
various available reports (out-of-box). However, one may need to develop
certain reports if any of the out-of-box reports are not meeting the
requirements.
SLA offers real-time/online accounting information as well as audit trail for
all transactions. SLA offers powerful and flexible rules-based accounting
engine.
Tips:
Subledger Accounting rules and definitions of one module cannot be
accessed from another module. This means Subledger Accounting is service and has security built in to and therefore restricts not to be viewed from
another module.
Seeded Subledger Accounting Methods (SLAM) cannot be modified. If
modification is required, they need to be copied and modified.
Any change made to sub ledger accounting setup invalidates accounting
process. Please make sure that Application Accounting definitions are
validated in order for any change in SLA in order to make sure changes are logical. Then only Create Accounting Process needs to be executed.

Conclusion:
SLA Works with Oracle General Ledger to provide accounting
system that suits business requirements. SLA supports User defined accounting rules.
SLA allows multiple accounting representations for a single
transaction. That means various accounting standards can be
configured for same single transaction. SLA has been designed using common data model and has interface
to all subledgers. Hence configuration of SLA as per business
requirements would be very easy once it is understood thoroughly.
SLA is not a module or product. SLA is service within a product.

With the introduction of BI Publisher by Oracle, All oracle reports in newer
releases of Oracle EBS are developed with Bi Publisher. As per my
understanding, Oracle BI Publisher is the way forward rather than Oracle Reports.
Most of the customers who are in Oracle EBS 11i and below still use Oracle
Reports to develop their Business reporting requirements. Typical upgrade
path will not migrate the reports to BI Publisher.
Therefore, in order to keep current with latest technology and also to keep
current with Oracle Technology roadmaps, one has to think of migrating
these custom reports to Oracle BI Publisher.
On the efforts front, conversion of Reports to BI Publisher reports is bit
cumbersome process and that too if volume of reports conversion is to be
handled huge amount of time and effort is involved.
Evoke Technologies product development team has given a thought to the
above problem and came up with concept of building the tool to migrate
reports to BI Publisher. Aim in building of this tool is to reduce time and effort and provide easy uses of this tool with little or no training for any
developer.
Pre-requisites to run this tool are Oracle Reports 9 and above, Oracle
BI/XML Publisher 5.6.3 and above
Typical flow to use this migrator is provided below:
Run the Migrator Utility Load Pl/SQL package into database
Create the concurrent program
Upload the data template and layout template files in BI Publisher
Test the report and move it to respective instances

As of now limitations of this tool reported so far are:
Format triggers are not migrated. Evoke Product development team is
working on to fix this and make further enhancements in automation.
Evoke is also planning to keep this tool on cloud so that developers/users
can upload Oracle Reports files and get converted files to their local system.

Several varieties of Papers for Food Packaging, Printing, Publishing,
Garments, Stationery, Secure Paper for Cheques, MICR etc. are produced
in West Coast Paper Mills. R&D division of West Coast Paper Mills continuously on the job innovating latest techniques for the improvement
of Production Processes. Facilities are maintained with excellent rather
ultimate pollution control and Industrial Safety.
Oracle EBS 11.5.9 CU1 was implemented in West Coast Paper Mills with the following modules Financials, Purchasing, Order Management, Oracle
Process Manufacturing and Enterprise Asset Management.
Paper industry is process industry and hence OPM was mapped to suite business requirements of West Coast Paper Mills Limited. Since the original
implementation is Oracle EBS 11.5.9 CU1, database version is 9.2.0.5. SUN
Hardware has been deployed to host Oracle EBS Instance with
configuration of Zones and Both DB and Apps Tiers are on Zones of SUN Hardware.
Because of the de-support on Oracle EBS 11.5.9 and DB 9.2.0.5, West
Coast Paper Mills had decided to upgrade to Oracle EBS R12.1.3 with
Database upgrade to 11.2.0.3. It was also envisaged that important custom reports need to be migrated to R12.1.3 environment.

Dual UOM conversion has been brought to Item Master attributes.
Material Status functionality has been added to Inventory to address
Process Manufacturing needs. Parent and Child Lot controls have been
added to address Lot and Sublot functionality of OPM in 11i.
Material Aging workflows have been added to address expiration and retest
functionalities of Process Manufacturing

Above diagram shows major changes in Organization structure in R12
Inventory convergence. Adoption of this change from 11i is major challenge
from User Community.
For example, Warehouses in OPM 11i can be mapped to either sub
inventory or organization itself. Each mapping has its own advantages or
disadvantages when it comes to transfer of goods.

In the same lines, as mentioned before, several Process manufacturing
related Item attributes have been added common Item Master which was
existed in 11i in addition to OPM Item Master.
Prior to R12, OPM Item Master is very simple screen and whenever OPM
item gets created this automatically creates item in common inventory and
assigns to related organizations (all process) based on the configurations.
India localizations attributes are captured in Descriptive Flex fields in
Common Item Master. Because of ease of use of OPM Item Master in 11i,
update of Descriptive Flex fields for India Localizations, user acceptance
was very high.
In R12, because of convergence of Inventory, one has to create Item using
common inventory model and assign these items to respective
organizations. Assignment of India Item attributes is another task by various India Localization Forms.
Technical architecture of the above functionality is really appreciated but it
enforces additional steps which will take considerable amount of time for a

typical industry like Paper Industry where new item creation is quite
common and frequent.
We have created Model Item, Template for creation of Items in Common
Inventory to address the Item Creation Process.
We have also created Organization Hierarchy and automated process so that organization assignment for the newly created Items becomes simple
process.
Similar to 11i India Localization Item attributes, DFFs were created so that
users need not have impression that upgrade has impacted their day to
day activities.

We have created Custom APIs to populate the relevant India Localization
data models so that all IL processes are not impacted.
We felt that Oracle should have provided some APIs to handle such
processes, which is missing even today.
In the common inventory Model several advantages/improvements were
identified when compared to OPM 11i Data Model.
Plant parameters have been incorporated in the Forms unlike profile values
in 11i. Several Quality and Process execution profiles are reframed in R12 as parameters, which can be entered through Forms.
In 11i, OPM uses stock locators from discrete functionality. But only one
segment (typically segment1) is mapped to Locations in OPM.
In R12, stock locators functionality has been extended to Process Items
because of common inventory Model.
In OPM 11i, Inventory transfers and Move Immediate functionality existed.

Where as in R12, because of organizational changes, either sub inventory
transfer or Inter-org transfers need to be used to map the above
functionality. Process wise this is cumbersome process.
In order to make the life of users, we have automated Inter-Org Transfer
in R12. We have automated this Inter-Org Transfer even from Process
Execution.
Prior to R12, Lot and Sublot functionality existed in OPM. In R12, this
functionality is mapped to Parent and Child Lots. In 11i lot and Sublot
combinations have their respective lot_id column. In R12 parent and child lots are not exactly mapped to Lot and Sublot functionality. Sublot number
generation logic developed in 11i had to be redone to satisfy the User
Community and Data conversion to R12.
All old reports pointing to item_id and lot_id in 11i were mapped to
respective column changes.
Another major change in R12 is Grade Functionality. Grade functionality of
WMS has been brought to Inventory convergence. Typical paper industry uses grade such as 60 GSM and 70 GSM. This was perfectly mapped to
Grade functionality in OPM 11i. When it comes to Oracle EBS R12, this
functionality mapping had issues. Sales Order need to be booked with a
specific grade and material allocation/reservations need to be done with the same grade. Users should have choice of selecting different grade. This
is great loss of functionality.
We had to interact with Oracle support and development and concluded that fixing of the issue might lot of time because it is spanning across
product groups OPM, INV and WMS.
Finally we have decided to incorporate customized code in standard
functionality to handle Grade functionality as existed in Oracle 11i OPM. Without this our upgrade could not have gone live.
Similarly new introduction of Invoice lines in Account Payables had another
impact. Functionality point of view this enhancement is good whereas this involves additional navigation path to handle any personalization and may

be time consuming. We had to personalize as per our business
requirements on this to achieve User satisfaction and acceptance.
In11i AP Trial Balance was developed for Reports and modification was easy
to suit business requirements. In R12 this has been made as Java
Concurrent Program. We had to build the report from scratch because of
introduction of SLA.
Only some of the major issues and resolutions were mentioned in the above
document. Several issues were addressed to get User Acceptance.
We have planned for three iterations and we could do four iterations in the
stipulated time to address upgrade issues. In this process we have also
developed process automations in order to reduce the impact of the
upgrade. Because of the source release is 11.5.9 CU1 and DB is 9.2.0.5 we had to db upgrade, implementation of OATM and subsequently
unsupported 11.5.9 to 12.1.3 upgrade. We could do this with “Zero”
Service requests except for the SR for the Loss of functionality.
Now the users are catching up with R12 and trying to achieve expected results ….

India localization functionality is statutory mapping and functionalities provided in Oracle E-Business Suite as per Indian Federal requirements. In
this white paper, Pre & post installation Tasks, Various regimes that need
to be defined, Fixed Assets related features/functionalities and other Key
considerations will be dealt in order to provide overview of India Localization functionalities of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.X.
India Localization functionality does not require any additional licensing
other standard Oracle E-Business Suite Licenses (Financials, Distributions etc.) based on the business requirements.
However during configuration, it is necessary to select Singapore locations
as licensed product under Asia Pacific Localizations so that all intended
functionalities of India Localizations will function based on configuration. In addition to this one has to make sure that Inventory module as licensed
rather than in shared mode.
As of 12.1.x, most of the functionalities of India localizations are achieved through Database Triggers and concurrent programs to process data from
various modules or business flows.
One has to make sure that Primary currency at Ledger Level to be as INR else intended functionalities may not work as expected. Before rolling out
India Localizations, one has to make sure that mandatory E-Business Tax
configurations and Global descriptive flexfields compilations are completed.
As of R12, India localization does not require any specific installation and
they are bundled with base installation of Oracle E-Business Suite.
Customers are advised to install latest recommended patch collections
(RPC) on the top of base installation so that major issues and some
functionality enhancements/latest statutory requirements are addressed in those RPC.

India Localization supports Depreciation method. WDV. (Written Down Value).Two important reports India Income Tax Fixed Asset Schedule and
India Depreciation Detail reports are to be considered.

Approach 1:
a) For example, if the assets are added right from the year 1980, then,
first define the Block of Assets for the financial year 1980.
b) Upload, first all the assets having the Date Placed In Service in the period 1980
c) In ‘India Block of Assets’ form, associate the Block of Assets to the Assets
which got uploaded for 1980. Save the record.
d) Run the program ‘India Income Tax Act Fixed Assets Schedule’ for the year 1980.
e) This will calculate the localization depreciation for the block of assets
and will arrive at the closing balance for the year 1980.This also, will create
another record in the ‘Block Of Assets’ Screen for the year 1981 giving the opening balance equal to the Closing Balance of the year 1980
f) Then the user has to upload all the assets falling in the year 1981 and
repeat the same process again.
Approach 2: a) Compile the Opening Balance data of all the Block of assets.
b) Define Block of Assets with the Block having the start date from the
year in which the data is uploaded / implementation period and provide
the Opening Balances as applicable.

Creating Stage area using buildStage.sh script
After creating the stage area directory it is required to manually
unzip only the "Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.0 Rapid Install Start
Here" files. Do not manually unzip the other stage files. After unzipping the
startCD, the buildStage.sh script should be run to unzip the rest of the
installation software.
Running the buildStage.sh script is a mandatory pre-installation step. To
create a successful R12.2 stage, you must run buildStage.sh as suggested below with "Option 1" first "Create new stage area" followed by "Option 2"
"Copy new patches to current stage area.". The buildStage.sh script is run
as follows:
$ cd /u01/StageR122/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/bin
$ buildStage.sh
Select Option “1” for creating stage area.

Select appropriate Operating System, in my case “Option 2 – Linux x86-
64”

Provide stage directory, in my case /ebs
Once completed above step successfully, you must run the buildStage.sh
script and select option 2. Copy new patches to current stage area from
the Build Stage Menu:
This will copy the latest technology patches to the ship home. Failure to
do this will cause the installation to fail during the Oracle Home patching
phase.

Verify oraInst.loc
Check that oraInst.loc exists in the correct directory for your platform. In
my case /etc/oraInst.loc ebs122:/etc # ll oraInst.loc
-rwxrwxr-x 1 oracle oinstall 39 Dec 10 06:45 oraInst.loc
Confirm that the contents of oraInst.loc look like this: ebs122:/etc # cat oraInst.loc
inventory_loc=/u01/oracle/oraInventory
Where /u01/oracle/oraInventory points to the directory where the central
inventory is to be located. This location must be writeable by the user account that is to run Rapid Install. If the oraInst.loc file does not exist,
create it in the correct directory with contents as shown above.
