In English Grammar, some things are seen as a whole or mass. These are calledthe uncountable nounbecause they cannot beseparated or counted.

Because they are seen as a whole or mass

Whole-A thing that is completein itself.

Ideas and experience:

Can I give you an advice?Can you give me some advices?

The right expression will be-

“Can I give you a piece of advice?”

“Can you give me some advice?”

“She was always there to give great advice”.

In the case of business meetings “advices” can be used in written form.

What not to do

1. Do not put s/es to make it plural.

2. Do not put a/an in front of the nouns.

3. Do not put numbers to make it plural.

Examples

Fetch me a glass of water.Fetch me a water.

We need to buy a 10 kg of rice.We need to buy 10 rices.

I just bought 10 grams of gold.I just bought 10 golds.

Daily half liter of milk keeps you healthy.Daily two milks keeps you healthy.

Weather words-

weather, thunder, lightning, rain, snow

Examples

The weather is nice.Weathers are nice

The sound of thunder broke the silence of the night.Sound of thunders broke the silence of the night.

Lightning revealed Jonny's face.Lightnings revealed Jonny’s face.

It is raining hard.It is rainings hard.

The snow covered the mountains.The snows covered the mountains.

Examples
