Comp-TIA Standards

1.4 CPU TYPES: AMD- (Advanced Micro Devices)• An American multinational semiconductor company that

develops computer processors and related technologies for commercial and consumer markets.

• Intel- designs and builds the essential technologies that serve as the foundation for the world's computing devices.

1.4 CPU TYPES: HYPER-THREADING

• A technique that enables a single CPU to act like multiple CPUs.

1.4 CPU TYPES:

• Multi-Core- a single computing component with two or more independent processors.

1.4 CPU TYPES:

* Dual Core- A CPU that has two separate cores on the same die, and each with its own cache.

1.4 CPU TYPES:

Triple Core- a processing unit that reads and executes programs .

1.4 CPU TYPES:

• Quad Core- A chip-level multiprocessor, (CMP) That combines four independent cores into a single package composed of a single integrated circuit (IC).

1.4 CPU TYPES: ON-CHIP CACHEL1- A small cache integrated in a processor that

provides quick access to the most recently used data.

L2-A specialized memory unit that enhances DRAM performance by providing the CPU with data at speeds ten times faster than DRAM.

1.4 CPU TYPES: SPEED (REAL VS. ACTUAL)• 32 Bit Vs. 64 Bit- A 32-bit operating system, is capable of

addressing only 4 GB of RAM, while a 64-bit operating system can address more than 128 GB of RAM.
