Codes and Conventions of Print Advert

There are codes and conventions that must be followed in order to make the perfect Documentary advert in a poster form.

1) There must be one striking image so that audiences are attracted straight away.

2) The poster must be A4 landscape, matching the required measurements for the specific channel. Channel 4 requires

3) The slogan must anchor the meaning of the image. It must be witty or a play on words to attract the attention of people.

4) It must include the channels logo. In our case for Channel 4, it must be half way down on the right hand side.

5) It also must include the scheduling information. For example the day, date, time. This must also be on a colour block so that it stands out to the audience.

6) There must be a simple colour scheme that is appealing to the eye.

7) The channel the programme will be aired on, the name of the documentary and also the slogan must be stated. Also in colour block.
