Catalyzing the Erlenmeyer Ploechl Reaction: Organic Bases versus Sodium Ace-tate. — The preparation of 4-arylidene-2-aryl-5(4)-oxazolones, of interest as interme-diates for fine chemicals and biologically active molecules, is studied in the presence of Huenig's base and NaOAc. In all cases, the products are formed in good yields.
