Let’s remind ourselves of the 5 times table. What patterns do we notice within the five times table?

To start us off, we are going to re-cap some of the learning that you did in KS1.

Look at the clock face, what do you see?

What do you notice about the big divisions?

The big divisions are closer to the centre of the circle.

The big divisions tell us what hour it is.

The hour hand is the shorter hand and points to the big divisions.

These clocks only have the hour hands. What hour is being shown?

The hour hand is pointing to 1.

The hour hand is pointing to 5.

What do you notice about the small divisions?

The small divisions are at the edge of the circle.

The small divisions tell us what minutes it is.

The minute hand is the longer hand and points to the small divisions.
