CARIOCA TREAT

Desiccated Coconut from the Philippines never fails to amaze us by giving a different treat and twist to our ordinary recipes.

Have a blast by doing this Filipino Carioca Recipe. It is a simple yet very delicious recipe that has been passed down from many generations. This Indigenous food will melt your heart for its sweet and soft (or sometimes crunchy) texture and taste.

Serve as a dessert or snacks for your kids, family, or special someone.

Simple, yet has an extraordinary taste!

INGREDIENTS

2 Cups of Sweet Rice or Glutinous Rice Flour

1 Cup of Water

1 ½ Cups(300 grams) Brown Sugar

1 Cup of Coconut Milk

1 Cup of Desiccated Coconut

Cooking Oil

PROCEDURES

We Must first make our dough for our special carioca treat. Just mix the flour and water.

If you have a rounded shape spoon or scooper, you can use it to form small balls of dough.

We will cook our dough using a heavy duty deep frying pan. Heat it up from low to medium only to avoid overcooking.

PROCEDURES

Place the dough balls one at a time to the frying pan. Always check that the balls won't stick together. Wait for about 8-10 minutes until the carioca balls is cooked. Drain the oil using paper towel

Now that our Carioca is ready, we have to prepare the syrup. Mix the coconut milk and brown sugar. Cook it in a sauce pan, wait until it is fully mixed. You will know if it is cooked when it became clear brown syrup.

HAVE A TASTE!

Roll over the Carioca balls to our syrup. You can also do it the other way around, pour the syrup to the carioca balls. For an additional twist, sprinkle it with desiccated coconut..
