ARCHITECTUREOn October 14, 2009, various Architects, Engineers, and a Construction
Manager visited EKB to teach students about what their job entails.
On November 12 , 2009 students visited DeeringEstates to learn about the architecture of some of the historic buildings in Miami Dade County.
DEERING ESTATES
On November 24, 2009, students visited the Lowe Art Museum located on the campus of The University of Miami. They had the opportunity to tour the museum with docents who talked with them about the many art works on display. Students also had the opportunity to participate in an art workshop about mosaics. Each student created their own original mosaic.

Students went on a field trip to Clear Channel Communications in Miramar, Florida where they learned about radio broadcasting and had the opportunity to meet various radio personalities and became familiar with their line of work.

ACTOR’S PLAYHOUSE
On April 30, 2010, students visited Actor’s Playhouse. They watched Young King Arthur and participated in acting workshops.
Throughout the year, students were engaged in numerous projects and presentations.
PROJECTS AND PRESENTATIONS
Students in the gifted program along with the Chorus, put on four performances of
On the Radio – A Musical! Marvelous Mike and Jivin’ Judy took us all on an
adventure throughout music history.
ON THE RADIO – A MUSICAL
Exhibitions and displays were set up in the gifted classroom. Students then acted as docents to other students from grades Kindergarten - 5th Grade. Students were able to view a variety of art works and projects that the gifted students created throughout the school year. As docents, students were able to teach about different art forms to the others. The gifted students gave explanations about their work and answered students’ questions.
ARTIST SHOWCASE
CULMINATING ACTIVITIESOn May 21st, 2010, students participated in various activities in order to culminate the studies of the CANVAS Program for the year.
