Structural Design Engineer for the first ever addition of 30 stories to an existing office building. The entire project was completed while the building remain occupied, maintaining function of a district-wide cooling system during relocation of HVAC components to the new roof. Primary Structural Designer of the gravity load bearing structural system and rooftop screenwall. Performed structural project management and construction administration during construction.

CAMERON HUFFORD P.E.
Structural Design Engineer for an architecturally unique, 82 story hotel and residential high-rise with elevated 3 story podium structure in the Chicago Loop Area (Lakeshore East). The project featured exposed, undulating concrete balconies that gave each floor a unique slab edge. Created a slab Analysis and Design methodology identifying critical boundary conditions that allowed the Architect extensive design freedom while providing a “contractor-friendly”, efficient, rapid design. Performed structural foundation design for 100’ deep, drilled concrete piers with socketed anchors.

CAMERON HUFFORD P.E.
Lead Structural Design Engineer and Structural Project Manager for a 37,000 SF multimedia production space integrating stages, animation studios, set design workshops and classroom space into one facility. The structural design utilized precast concrete and steel joists in combination with custom designed structural elements to create an architecturally unique, yet cost-efficient, high-performing educational facility. Unique structural design elements include super flat / super level floors on all film stages, a noise and vibration isolating structural system, green roofs, and support to a delicate historic masonry archway. Worked closely with the project team during design and construction to ensure that the structural design supported both the architectural vision and technical requirements while remaining on budget and schedule.

CAMERON HUFFORD P.E.
Structural Forensic Engineer and Structural Team Lead for a multi-organizational effort to identify, assess, and reconstruct buildings having a high risk of catastrophic failure during an earthquake throughout Afghanistan. The team-created analysis and assessment program allowed the Building Forensics Task Force to rapidly classify and evaluate the seismic safety of existing buildings throughout Afghanistan even in remote or highly insecure areas. Activities and responsibilities included map recons, photographic analysis, and multi-day, multi-structure assessment missions using non-destructive testing (NDT). Reviewed new designs for seismic safety and appropriate construction methods. Assisted US Government Partners (Department of Defense, Department of State) with the analysis of blast, fire , and battle damaged structures for structural life safety. CAMERON HUFFORD P.E.
Working in conjunction with the U.S. Agency For International Development (USAID) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the Building Forensics Task Force and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Team created District-Level Seismic Hazard Maps for the country of Afghanistan. These first of their kind maps created the ability to gain a rapid and accurate understanding of the seismic hazard faced by buildings, cities and district-level governments. The maps proved to be invaluable aids in rapidly assessing potential seismic hazards and then communicating those hazards to various stakeholders both in Afghanistan and the United States.
