… over three trillion cells, organized into specialized Communities…

...that insures that we breathe, our blood flows, our muscles to move, and much, much more.

And then, there’s our brain!

The fastest processor on the planet, at speeds that range from 100 to 1,000 teraflops.

(1 teraflop= 1 trillion flops, or 1,000,000,000,000 operations per second.)

And storing 280 quintillion bits of memory!

Whew!

With billions and billions ofneurons, processing

the input from our senses: -what we feel...

-what we hear...-what we taste...

-what we smell... -what we see...

… all translated intoelectrical impulses

which the brain uses to assemble what you think

you see in your world.

You didn’t think the EYES really saw all that stuff, did you?

It’s all created by the brain!

But, we have a sense that we are not our brain. We can watch ourselves think.

It makes you wonder what’s real….hmmmmm.(Wait! Can the thing that’s wondering,

wonder if it’s wondering?)

Our brains create the world we think we see. It’s like having our very own holodeck in our heads!

Very Cool!

Very crazy!But true.

According to Michael Merznick, PhD, Neuroscientist , University of California

‘Every aspect of you is created by the brain revising itself in response to your interactions with the world …

According to Michael Merznick, PhD, Neuroscientist , University of California

‘How you define yourself-the person you are, is the product of the plastic changes in your brain…’

According to Michael Merznick, PhD, Neuroscientist , University of California

‘What you are is a result of how your brain has tried to create a model of the world –

and the brain is plastic until you die.’

What Dr. Merznick is saying is that we create ourselves by the way

we think about things.

And, just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder... along came Quantum Physics!

Even Einstein thought it was weird.

Why? Because it causes us to question What we believe to be our reality…

… who we are and how we come to be that personwe see in the mirror

But, don’t worry…we’re just going

to do a little mind-stretching

today!

So… here’s a man sitting on a chair…or so he thinks…

but if re ally thought about it,he’d remember that he’s

Just a pile of cells!

So… here’s a man sitting on a chair…Or so he thinks…

But if re ally thought about it,he’d remember that he’s

Just a pile of cells!

And that thecells of his

hand…

...and, the wood cells of the chair are starting to look similar.

Both sets of cells have membranes… .

which communicate with the cell’s surroundingsand monitor what goes in and what comes outof the cell.

Both sets of cells have membranes… .and nuclei…

which contain the DNA- the template for allthe different proteins that are involved in most of the biochemical activities of the bodies.

So, our guy’s hand cells are smack up againstthe chair’s cells...

and, if we zoom in further…so are their molecules.

Makes sense!…EXCEPT…EXCEPT

BTW… molecules are NOT nice little balls like we see here…

Nor are they flesh pink and wood brown. There is no color at this level.

(Where’d it go? Was it ever really there?)(

Molecules, like this collagen strand, are little bundles of atoms … connected together in a very precise order.

(BTW… at this level, it’s becoming difficult to see where the atoms of the hand stop and those of the chair begin. In fact, this is where the story begins to get a little dicey!)

when we zoom into stronger magnifications… .

Because even though the molecules bind to form something rather solid, like that coveringwe know as skin – the stuff that keeps your insides

in… (and waterproof)...

we really start…

to fall…

… apart!

Atoms are energy.

We are clouds of energy.

" There is no place where

the body begins and no place

.where it ends ”. Dr Jeffrey Thomps on

.We are not our bodies

99.99% … … Atoms are s pace So what does that?mean

It meansthat at theatomic level…

… humansseem to

disappear!

Do we, really? Hmmm....let’s think about what we’ve learned.

1. Everything… all matter, is made up of atoms…energy.

2. We are energy.3. We are not our brains. We can watch ourselves

think.4. And we are clearly not our bodies, yet ourthoughts affect our bodies.

Who the-heck Are We?

[Hint...We are NOT the Walrus... good! Talk about a bad dental day!]

[Nor are we the man behind the screen. Well,

metaphorically...maybe]

You AreThe ManBehindThe

Curtain.

We are the Observer.

We are aware ofourselves.

Science calls this...Consciousness.[and it's a pretty big deal!}
