• Draft QCO has been circulated by Ministry ofSteel for 13 more steel products proposed tobe brought under mandatory BIS certification.

• 81 more standards have been identified byMinistry of Steel for mandatory BIScertification.

Coordination with Customs

• Integration of real time data on BIS licenceswith ICEGATE(Customs Gateway) throughapplication program interface (API) is underconsideration.

• BIS is working closely with team of SingleWindow Project, Director General Systems ofCBIC to initiate the process of integration ofboth systems.

Laboratories Utilized by BIS

• To support our CA schemes, which require testing of productson regular basis, BIS has established a network of eightlaboratories.

• In addition, facilities of OSLs recognized by BIS are also beingutilized, for testing of products.(Group-1 Labs : 229)

• Further, facilities at labs of National repute and eminence arealso being utilized by BIS.(Group-2 Labs : 249)
