UKASThe United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the sole national accreditationbody recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibrationservices. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality andperformance capability of these evaluators and means they have been assessedagainst internationally recognised standards to demonstratetheir competence, impartiality and performance capability.

By using an UKAS accredited certification body a clientsignificantly reduces the risk of selecting an incompetentevaluator and paying for, or more seriously, risking clients notrecognising the validity of the assessment.

Who are we?The Steel Construction Certification Scheme (SCCS) is the Certification Bodyspecifically for companies engaged in the design, manufacture and installation ofstructural steelwork and its associated products and services. SCCS is a whollyowned subsidiary of the British Constructional Steelwork Association Ltd (BCSA).

The objective of the Scheme is to secure high standards of excellence and qualityacross all processes, procedures and practices in the steelwork industry throughindependent certification to specific standards.

SCCS is the natural partner for steelwork contractors and component manufacturersfollowing the route to CE Marking certification.

SCCS is a Notified Body able to assess and certify your Factory Production Control(FPC) system.

Implementation and maintenance of a suitable FPC system is a key requirement ofCE marking Certification. SCCS can undertake a gap analysis if you are preparing anFPC system, but do not feel ready for the certification audit.

If you already use SCCS services, the FPC assessment can be incorporated into otherscheduled visits to keep costs down.
