Characteristics of Life

Thought question: Let’s list all the characteristics of life that fire

possesses.

If Transformers were real, would they be considered alive? Why or why not?

If the X-men were real, would they be considered alive? Why or why not?

If vampires were real, would they be considered living?

Zombies are often referred to as the “living dead”. If they were real, would they be

considered alive? Why or why not?

This is how a virus works.

Are viruses alive? Why or why not?

Take away

• How many characteristics do things need to be considered “living”?– Can you name them?

• Thought for Thursday: How does the idea of death fit into our alive/not alive discussion?
