Good news: Overall amount of litter is down 61% since 1969
Bad news: plastic litter is up 165%
Sources of roadside litter:•Motorists (52%)• Pedestrians (22.8%)• Improperly covered truck or cargo loads (16.4%)• Litter costs the US almost $11.5 billion annually;
businesses pay $9.1 billion of that total.• 81% of littering occurred with notable intent.
