History Founded by Thomas Bata in 1894 at Zlin.

Incorporated as Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in 1931 in Kolkata, company went public in 1973-Bata India Ltd.

Established Factories in 5 States and expanded Operations

Established two tanneries at Batanagar and Mokamehghat in (1952).  

Batanagar Unit – First Shoe manufacturing unit to receive the ISO 9001 Certification in 1993.
