Baskerville Cabinet Handbook Thank you for reading the Baskerville Cabinet Handbook. This handbook will be your
guide to operating successfully within the Baskerville Cabinet on the Villoux Server System. As it
will become obvious to you, the Assistants and Advisors are a very important part of Villoux and
play an integral role in daily activities. The Cabinet serves as an instrumental lifeline through which
nearly all of Villoux’s administrative workflows. On behalf of the Baskerville Cabinet and the
Villoux Chief of Staff Dr. Baskerville, thank you for serving in your position.
Assistants and Advisors are recognized as members of senior system staff and are therefore
expected to uphold the values outlined in this handbook as they serve as examples of
professionalism to all others Villoux. Serving as an Assistant presents a wonderful opportunity for
you to grow and become successful within Villoux after developing knowledge about the system’s
governance. Many Grand Council Members started their careers in Villoux as Assistants, testifying
to the benefits of serving in the role.
Whereas it is rare, Advisors may sometimes be requested to serve Assistants in the absence
of an Assistant. The handbook is the sole resource any Advisor would need to perform the
responsibilities expected of the Assistants. Advisors should bear in mind that when they are acting
as an Assistant, they must uphold the same protocol expected of an Assistant rather than the
protocol which is expected from an Advisor.
The Baskerville Cabinet Handbook is divided into five chapters. Each chapter discusses a
different role that members of the Cabinet play in the system. Please ensure that you read this
handbook in full and keep it bookmark it so that you may assist Dr. Baskerville properly. The
Executive Baskerville Assistant, Advisor Manager, and Assistant Manager will distribute any
updated versions of this Handbook.
Chapter 1 – Introduction
When to Accompany Dr. Baskerville:
An Assistant should always accompany Dr. Baskerville during his weekly meetings with
Grand Council Members, system staff, and other Villouxians. The Assistant Manager will send
each Assistant a copy of Dr. Baskerville’s schedule each week and Assistants should register to
assist Dr. Baskerville whenever they are available to do so, though it is all right if you are
unavailable during any of the meeting times during a given week. Please simply inform the
Assistant Manager of your availability or lack thereof. Furthermore, please prioritize taking
meetings which compliment your time zone, e.g. a European Assistant should aim to register for
afternoon meetings given evening meetings occur too late for it to be reasonable for them to serve
as an Assistant.
If you join Dr. Baskerville while he is already in a meeting, please do not verbally speak
upon joining his channel as you may disrupt the meeting. This includes making a greeting.
Assistants’ role is similar to that of an intern – they are there to silently observe and learn from the
meetings rather than to participate in them, therefore it is inappropriate to verbally speak during
any meetings. You should instead send a direct message to Dr. Baskerville if you have something
to say during a meeting and wait for him to acknowledge you before interjecting on your own.
Furthermore, you are not to respond to anything anyone says during a meeting unless Dr.
Baskerville explicitly requests your response. This includes greetings and others posing questions
to you.
How to Address Dr. Baskerville:
Formality is important within the Cabinet; therefore, it is inappropriate to refer to Dr.
Baskerville with any nicknames such as “Basker” or “dude”. You should only refer to him as “Sir”
or “Doctor Baskerville”. When speaking to the Baskerville Assistant Manager, Gearbloody, you
should refer to him as “Mr. Gearbloody”; when speaking to the Baskerville Advisor Manager
Qmen, you should refer to him as “Mr. Qmen”; when speaking to the Executive Baskerville
Assistant Peekatchu, you should refer to her as “Ms. Peekatchu”. All other members of the
Cabinet, and anyone you interact with while in office will be referred to as “Mr.” or “Ms.”,
respectively.
Learning Information:
Serving in the Cabinet provides you a unique opportunity to learn about how the system
functions, and whereas you should certainly retain that useful information, you should not discuss
it. As an Assistant or Advisor, you will be exposed to numerous private conversations amongst
system officials. You are not, at any time, allowed to repeat any information that you gain as a
result of assisting Dr. Baskerville during his meetings. If you fail to follow this rule, you will not
only be demoted from your position as an Assistant or Advisor, but you also risk being prosecuted
with a ban depending on the severity of the information revealed.
Dr. Baskerville Joining Public Channels:
If you notice that Dr. Baskerville is in a public channel, always join the channel with him,
even if there are already other Assistants with him. This helps the Cabinet make a good showing.
Always try to protect Dr. Baskerville from unwanted conversations and unwarranted questions
while he is in public channels. Be polite, but let users know not to bombard Dr. Baskerville with
“questions, comments, or concerns”. If any user directly insults Dr. Baskerville, immediately
remove the user from the channel.
From Whom to Get Help:
Whereas you are a “Baskerville” Assistant, Dr. Baskerville is not your direct superior and
will therefore not be overly involved in affairs regarding your positions. Assistants report to the
Baskerville Assistant Manager and Advisors report to the Baskerville Advisor Manager. The
Manager of your position is your direct superior and the Executive Baskerville Assistant is the
Manager’s direct superior. If you have any issues with your position, need to take a hiatus, wish to
resign, or have any other concerns, you should contact your respective Manager or the Executive
Assistant.
From Whom to Take Orders:
Whereas you are a “Baskerville” Assistant, there may be times at which you will be
requested to assist other system officials. There may be times where members of the Baskerville
Cabinet will be required to attend various meetings to represent Dr. Baskerville, give opinions,
take notes, or participate in aiding the purpose of the meeting. In those meetings, you are to
answer to whomever is hosting and running the meeting. Additionally, some Assistants and
Advisors will be assigned a secondary rank in the system. Should you be one of those members,
you are additionally expected to answer to Grand Council Member to which you have been
assigned.
Reassignments:
Dr. Baskerville maintains the right to request the Executive Baskerville Assistant to transfer
you to another department. In fact, this is the ultimate goal of all Assistants. Should Dr.
Baskerville notice a skill, talent, or ability that you possess and feel that your ability is not being
properly utilized as an Assistant, he may reassign you to another department. If you are an
Advisor, Dr. Baskerville will often reassign you the serve as an acting Manager, Server Head, or
Grand Council Member.

Chapter 3 – Honorifics
The Villoux Server System is a diverse and complex system, as is the social structure within
the system. The following chapter is a list of honorifics that are commonplace in the vocabulary of
sophisticated members of the system and are to be used by all members of the Baskerville
Cabinet. The list is based on Section 3 – Titles of the House of Players Ordinance in the Villoux
Bill of Ordinances.

respectable university. Villoux additionally considers this the appropriate honorific for any user

Villoux uses “honorable” to refer to members whom have been granted honor by the Villoux

It should be noted Baskerville Assistant Managers and Baskerville Advisor Managers may not use
“Mme.” if the Executive Baskerville Assistant uses the honorific.
Mademoiselle:

preferred secondary language. This title should be used when unsure of a female’s other
honorifics or for any female whom does not possess other honorifics.
Mixter:
Mx. (mix•tur) – an English honorific given to users identifying as gender neutral, asexual, or
intersexual. It should be noted this honorific is only applied when a user requests it and users

government. The Villoux Chief of Staff uses this honorific by default.
Señor:
Sr. (seen•yuhr) – a Spanish honorific given to male users whom speak Spanish as their primary or
preferred secondary language. It is only used in the place of “Mr.”, and is overridden by any
other, more formal title, e.g. “Dr.”. It should be noted Italian and Portuguese users may also elect
to use this honorific given the similarity between “Sr.” and their respective language’s words for
“Mr.”
Señora:
Sra. (seen•yuhr•ah) – a Spanish honorific given to married female users whom speak Spanish as
their primary or preferred secondary language. This honorific may voluntarily be used by female
Guild Masters, Managers Server Heads, Tournament Masters, or Grand Council Members whom
speak Spanish as their primary or preferred secondary language. It should be noted Italian and
Portuguese users may also elect to use this honorific given the similarity between “Sra.” and their
respective language’s words for “Mrs.”
Señorita:
Srta (seen•yuhr•e•ta) – a Spanish honorific given to any female users whom speak Spanish as
their primary or preferred secondary language. It should be noted Portuguese users may also elect
to use this honorific given the similarity between “Srta.” and the Portuguese word for “Ms.”
Chapter 4 – Baskerville Advisor Designations
Whereas all Baskerville Advisors are referred to as such in any capacity outside of the
Cabinet, each Advisor has a specialized field in which they provide advice. When traveling on
Villoux business, the Chief of Staff may request one of the Advisor’s company as a travel
companion. In order for a user to be appointed as an Advisor, said user must have the consent of
the Villoux Chief of Staff and the Baskerville Advisor Manager or the Villoux Chief of Staff and
the Executive Baskerville Assistant. The following chapter is a list of the various types of Advisors
and their respective responsibilities. Within the Cabinet, Advisors may be referred to as the
Baskerville Advisor, <Username>, the Advisor of <Specialty>; however, outside of the Cabinet,
Advisors are not referred to by their specialty.
Advisor Manager:
The Baskerville Advisor Manager is the chief Advisor within the Baskerville Cabinet and is
responsible for the oversight of the other Advisors. The Advisor Manager is purview to
information most other Advisors and sometimes even Villoux Grand Council Members are
unaware of, including information about nearly ever component of Villoux and the Chief of Staff’s
personal life. The Advisor Manager is also responsible for serving as an Advisor for at least one of
the specified advising fields. In the absence of an Advisor for one of the specified fields, the
Advisor Manager is expected to present advice on that field. The Advisor Manager must
demonstrate unwavering loyalty and commitment to the Villoux Chief of Staff above all else as the
Advisor Manager’s primary goal is the success of the Chief of Staff, both within Villoux and in the
Chief of Staff’s personal life.
Advisor of Academia:
In order to ensure that Dr. Baskerville continues to have the time to serve as Villoux’s Chief of
Staff, he may need assistance in studying for certain university classes. It is the duty of the
Baskerville Advisor of Academia to assist the Chief of Staff in studying or learning any material
related to his schooling. In addition to assisting the Chief of Staff in studying, the Advisor of
Academia may be requested to aid the Chief of Staff in non-educational related school activities,
for example student organizations.
Advisor of Coding:
In the absence of proper Coding staff, it is expected that the Chief of Staff preform the role of
Executive System Coder. Should the Chief of Staff not be extraordinarily well versed on the
execution of the role of Executive System Coder, an Advisor of Coding may be hired. It is the
duty of the Baskerville Advisor of Coding to advise the Chief of Staff on how to preform necessary
tasks in server files, fix errors, and maintain order throughout the Coding Department in the
absence of an Executive System Coder. Additionally, the Advisor of Coding may be requested to
assist the Executive System Coder or other members of the Coding Department on behalf of the
Baskerville Cabinet. The Advisor of Coding must be well-versed on HTML, JavaScript, and other
necessary basic file knowledge.
Advisor of Entertainment:
In the Chief of Staff’s position, they can often be overwhelmed with work. It is crucial that the
Chief of Staff take breaks from work, else the system risks having paperwork being done
lackadaisically. It is the duty of the Baskerville Advisor of Entertainment to remind the Chief of
Staff to take a break from work, and then proceed to amuse the Chief of Staff. The Advisor over
Entertainment may also play music while the Chief of Staff is working or tell off-color jokes via
private messages during boring meetings. The Advisor of Entertainment must be humorous and
farcical, yet still maintain qualities of being appropriate and respectful.
Advisor of Finances:
On a monthly basis, the Villoux Server System has a tremendous amount of bills to pay and
money to allot. Whereas the Villoux Grand Council is generally the only body within the system
that is allowed to have any knowledge of Villoux’s financial situations, special exemption to that
rule is granted to the Advisor of Finances. It is the duty of the Baskerville Advisor of Finances to
aid the Chief of Staff in balancing Villoux’s budget, deciding where to spend the system’s money,
and to ensure that the system is not spending any money in a frivolous or wasteful manner. The
Advisor of Finances must excel in mathematics and accounting.
Advisor of Health and Fitness:
The health of the Chief of Staff is crucial to his general wellbeing. It is the duty of the Baskerville
Advisor of Health and Fitness to ensure that the Chief of Staff is in a good physical state by helping
train the Chief of Staff to achieve weight loss/gain goals, encouraging the Chief of Staff to exercise
and eat healthfully, and creating work out regimens, when needed. The Advisor of Health and
Fitness should also have a basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals, anatomy, and physiology.
Advisor of International Affairs:
The Villoux Server System is an international organization that harbors users from six of the
seven continents in the world, therefore it is critical for the system to understand how these
cultures will interact and mix with another. It is the duty of the Baskerville Advisor of
International Affairs to advise the Chief of Staff on how to keep the peace between these different
cultures and nationalities by keeping well-informed on international cultures and differences. The
Advisor of International Affairs must be an expert on current events, world history, geography, and
world cultures.
Advisor of League of Legends:
It is pivotal for the Chief of Staff to be engaged in Villoux society, and, seeing as League of
Legends is one of Villoux’s largest department, this goal can be achieved by the Chief of Staff
engaging in matches of League of Legends, and by participating in the monthly League of Legends
tournaments. It is the duty of the Baskerville Advisor of League of Legends to aid the Chief of
Staff in League of Legends gameplay by updating the Chief of Staff’s masteries and by playing
matches with the Chief of Staff to provide useful tips as to how to better improve the Chief of
Staff’s gameplay. The Advisor of League of Legends also assists the Chief of Staff and League of
Legends Department Chairman make decisions concerning the League of Legends Department
when necessary. The Advisor of League of Legends must be in a higher division than the Chief of
Staff in League of Legends rank; possess knowledge of nearly all champions, items, and roles in
League of Legends; and be a patient instructor.
Advisor of Personal Affairs:
The responsibilities of the Chief of Staff mixed with the Chief of Staff’s personal life can often
result in the Chief of Staff becoming stressed and bothered. Similar to a therapist, it is the duty of
the Baskerville Advisor of Personal Affairs to advise the Chief of Staff on how to resolve personal
issues. The Advisor of Personal Affairs must be available for contact at virtually all times due the
possibility of an emergency. It is important to note that the Advisor of Personal Affairs will be
exposed to extraordinary amounts of personal details concerning the Chief of Staff, and as such
this Advisor must be of the utmost trustworthiness. The Advisor of Personal Affairs must
be reliable, compassionate, and trustworthy.
Advisor of Realm of the Mad God:
For several years, Realm of the Mad God has remained one of Villoux’s largest departments.
Though the Chief of Staff does stay involved in the department’s administration, the Chief of Staff
does not personally play the game. It is the duty of the Advisor of Realm of the Mad God to
consult with the Chief of Staff before hosting Realm of the Mad God-related meetings to brief the
Chief of Staff on all in-game information pertinent to the meeting. The Advisor of Realm of the
Mad God should be extremely well versed in gameplay, possess undeniable skill in the game, and
be familiar with Villoux’s Realm of the Mad God Department’s history.
Advisor of Spirituality:
The Chief of Staff’s position is one that requires many difficult decisions be made. Whenever
concerned about implications of such decisions or whenever the Chief of Staff is in a position of
needing spiritual guidance on a matter, it is important that the Chief of Staff has an Advisor to
consult. It is the duty of the Baskerville Advisor of Spirituality to give spiritual advice to the Chief
of Staff and be well-versed in an array of religious customs, especially those that are prevalent in
Villoux. The Advisor of Spirituality should be confident in faith, knowledgeable of the religious
customs of those in Villoux, and willing to work outside of his or her own faith to explore assisting
those from other faiths. The Advisor of Spirituality is not required to be of any specific faith,
including that of the Chief of Staff’s.
Advisor of Succession:
It is not abnormal for a member of the Baskerville Cabinet to be reassigned to a more prominent
position in the system. When a member of the Cabinet has been decidedly granted to a different
department, that member of the Cabinet will become an Advisor of Succession. It is the duty of
the Baskerville Advisor of Succession to learn the role of the future position to which they will be
reassigned, generally a position as a Department Chairman or Executive.
Advisor of Villoux History:
After being established in 2010, the Villoux Server System has achieved many milestones and
overcome several obstacles. It is the duty of the Advisor of Villoux History to serve as the chief
historian within the system and remind the system’s leaders of previous experiences Villoux may
have had with a game, community, user, or regulation. The Advisor of Villoux History shall cite
examples from the system’s past to illustrate Villoux’s successes and failures and compare those
previous experiences to ongoing and future occurrences within the system.
Advisor of Villoux Law:
The Villoux Server System relies on the Villoux Bill of Ordinances for governance. It is the duty
of the Advisor of Villoux Law to be extremely well-versed with the Villoux Bill of Ordinances and
have an understanding for why all clauses and ordinances within it are valuable to the success and
longevity of the server system. The Advisor of Villoux Law should also provide guidance to both
the Chief of Staff and the Grand Council when they attempt to alter imposed regulation or instate
new regulations. It is generally recommended that former Grand Council Members hold this
position as they are the users in the system most familiar with the Villoux Bill of Ordinances.
Villoux Ambassadors:
At various times, it may become necessary for the Villoux Server System to represent itself in other
communities or inter-community organizations. During these times, the Villoux Chief of Staff may
appoint an Ambassador to another community. Ambassadors are not considered Baskerville
Advisor, though they are treated very similarly. The major difference being that the Ambassadors
are not subject to administration from either of the Managers nor the Executive Baskerville
Assistant; instead, reporting directly to the Chief of Staff.
Chapter 5 – Assistant Interview Procedure
Prior to be being accepted to serve as a Baskerville Assistant, applicants must undergo an
interview conducted by the Baskerville Assistant Manager or the Executive Baskerville Assistant.
The following are the list of questions posed by the interviewer to the applicant.
Regarding Villoux:
1. How long have you been a member of Villoux?
2. What is your primary department?
a. Aside from that department, are you active in any other departments?
b. Are you a member of any guilds/servers in that department?
c. With whom do you associate in that department?
3. How active are you on a daily basis?
Regarding the interviewee:
1. What is your age?
2. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities at school?
a. Do they affect how active you are online?
3. Where are you from?
4. Do you speak any languages other than English?
5. Are there any special skills you possess you would like to make us aware of?
6. I see you previously served as <position>. Could you tell me about your time serving in
that position?
a. What lead to your demotion/resignation?
Once the interview has been completed, the interviewer and any proctors will review the
interviewee’s answer and decide whether or not they are a fit applicant to serve as a Baskerville
Assistant. While this determination is being made, the interviewee should be sent a link to the
Baskerville Cabinet Handbook on Villoux’s website so they may review it in the interim.
If the interviewee is to be hired as a Baskerville Assistant, they should first be given three
important reminders about serving in the Cabinet:
1. As an Assistant, you are exposed to very important and private information. Ensure that
you do not share it with others.
2. Your ability to move users and join channels are only to be used when the Baskerville
Assistant Manager, the Executive Baskerville Assistant, or Dr. Baskerville requests you to
do so.
3. Remember you are not to take part in the conversation occurring in Dr. Baskerville’s
channel. If you have a comment that needs to be made, private message Dr. Baskerville.
Never type into a public chat during a meeting.
Chapter 6 – Other General Information
Playing Video Games with Dr. Baskerville
The Grand Council Ordinance restricts the number of users with which Dr. Baskerville
can casually play games. He is able to play matches with senior staff, such as members of the
Discord Operation Department, members of the TeamSpeak Operation Department, members
of the Baskerville Cabinet, and members of the Grand Council. The only games Dr. Baskerville
casually plays are League of Legends and Team Fortress 2. If you play a match of League of
Legends with Dr. Baskerville, always allow him to create the lobby. If you see him in a match of
Team Fortress 2 and would like to join him, always request his permission first prior to joining him
unless he is playing on a Villoux Team Fortress 2 server.
Interacting with Dr. Baskerville on Social Media:
If you wish to add Dr. Baskerville on various social media websites, you may request to do
so. He only maintains active Facebook, Instagram, and SnapChat accounts. For his contact
information, you should approach him and ask for it yourself. Should he choose to accept your
invitation, you may not redistribute any of his information (including usernames, real name, etc.) to
anyone else at any time. Sharing personal information can result in a ban, so be mindful of what
you say. Please try not be offended if Dr. Baskerville denies your request to interact on social
media as he likes to maintain a private life outside of Villoux.
Monthly Meetings:
Every month, the Villoux Server System hosts two governmental meetings. The first is the
public House of Players meeting, which is generally held on the last week of every month. You,
along with all of the other members of the system staff, are expected to attend the monthly House
of Players meeting on Villoux’s Discord Server. In the House of Players Meetings, Department
Chairmen will give updates on their departments, and Executives will make announcements.
During the course of the meeting, the master of ceremonies will call for users to make questions,
comments, or concerns. If you wish, you may voice a question, comment, or concern when the
time is appropriate. You can always find the date of the House of Players on Villoux’s website or in
the #villoux_calendar text channel. If you know you will not be able to attend the meeting, please
inform Dr. Baskerville as soon as possible. The other meeting, the Grand Council meeting, is a
private meeting only for Grand Council Members, and will therefore not require your attendance.
