RIEMAT A GLANCE
The Research Institute of Economics and Management
(RIEM) was founded in fall 2006. Li Han, Fu Shihe, Shan
Liwei, and two others became the founding members of
RIEM since they received their doctorate degrees abroad.
Xu Shu, Huang Feng, Li Feng and two other PhD. students
were the first batch of RIEM students. Now RIEM already
has 51 full-time faculty members with foreign doctor
degrees, 68 doctoral students, 36 master’s students, and
550 undergraduate students. In 2013, the Survey and
Research Center for China Household Finance also became
a part of RIEM.
Currently, RIEM is one of the most international teaching and
research institutes in China. All of RIEM’s faculty members
hold doctorate degrees from overseas universities, and
many teachers and staff members are of foreign nationalities.
RIEM presently has four majors: economics, finance,
accounting, and management. The undergraduate, master’s,
and doctoral programs are in accordance with the top
international academic standards. All of RIEM classes are
taught entirely in English and overseas students comprise
about one-third of the whole class. I am confident and proud
to say that RIEM pioneers in the internationalization tide of
all the Chinese economics &management schools.
RIEM is also one of the most domestic centers on
researching China’s pressing problems and has attached
importance to it since its inception. Over the past seven
years, RIEM professors and students have published 19
academic papers in Economic Research. In 2009, RIEM
launched the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS). With
arduous work, we meticulously collected comprehensive
first-hand data about Chinese household finance facts,
which actually laid solid foundation for both academic
research and political policy to build on.
The past seven years have seen considerable hard work and
many splendid outcomes in RIEM. I have faith that with an
international vision and a domestic mindset, the next seven
years will bring even more wonderful achievements.

Undergraduate Program
The undergraduate program ’EMIIT’ – ‘the Economics and
Management International Immersion Talent’ program, was
set up by RIEM in 2009. All courses are taught in English
and top international academic standards are applied. Only
150 domestic students are admitted by this program out
of nearly 1000 SWUFE freshman applicants each year.
Besides, there are around 40 foreign degree students in
EMIIT. Like western universities, EMIIT students receive
general economics and management education during their
first and second year. In the third year, they may choose a
major and a minor from four tracks: Economics, Finance,
Management and Accounting. Among the EMIIT graduates,
above 60% continue their studies in top universities all over
the world and the rest found jobs in famous banks and
companies etc. For details, please see our Undergraduate
Program Brochure.
OUR PROGRAMSWe welcome foreign students to study together with our students.
Graduate Programs
The Graduate programs started in 2006. All the domestic
students are direct admission students from 211 Project
