2020-2021 Assignment Licensure Table The Assignment Licensure table is organized by assignment code. The purpose of this table is to assist in determining what license is needed to fill an assignment. This table also provides description of assignment. Important Note: Educators can only work within the grade levels listed on their license unless they hold a permission allowing them to work outside of their grade level.
Important Terminology: Current License – Current licensure field that can be issued with a new license or a permission. These licenses will be in a larger font and bolded in order to assist applicants and districts in identifying the appropriate licensure field for license and Out-of-Field Permission (OFP) applications.
Legacy License – Old licensure field that cannot be issued with a new license or permission and can only be renewed. Licenses not bolded are legacy licenses. While individuals who hold these licenses can do the assignments, do not use these for license and OFP applications.
Teacher of Record – As defined by Minnesota Administrative Rule 8710.0310, subpart 1.N, a Teacher or Record is an individual responsible for the planning, instruction, and assessment of students in a classroom and authorized to grant credit.
Vocational License – Legacy licensure field that focuses on career and technical education. These are legacy licenses, but most are accepted for approved CTE programs.
