Transcript of Arthur Slade Visit to Carman Collegiate

Saskatchewan author Arthur Slade paid a virtual visit to Grade 8 students who read and enjoyed his novel Dust.

Two screens, two data projectors, two laptops, a sound system and a lot of cables were used to transport Mr. Slade to Carman.

Students heard about how Mr. Slade got his start in writing and some funny stories about his experiences researching his books.

Mr. Slade’s newest project is a graphic novel version of Dust. The popular book has been considered for a movie.

The idea for the novel Meggido’s Shadow came from Mr. Slade’s grandfather’s WW 1 experiences.

Mr. Slade’s latest project is the Hunchback Assignments. Brad Pitt has shown interest in optioning the novel for a film version.

Students had an opportunity to ask Mr. Slade questions after his presentation - everything from whether he lived in a mansion (he doesn’t) to what his favourite books are (Lord of the Rings and Airborn to name a couple).
