Jacksonville Elementary PTA
Greetings JES Families!I hope this finds all of you well and rested from the break. With Spring, I am looking forward to warm days, spring sports and plenty of activities at JES.
First, however, I’m sending our positive thoughts and energy to Michelle Caudill (JES parent and 3rd grade teacher) as she continues her battle toward renewed health and undergoes continued treatment for breast cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Stay tuned for information on ways to lend a hand during the times when she is undergoing chemo therapy.
Second, please take a quick moment to thank and admire the handiwork of Danielle Confer who took over the JES JetStream and has been producing these beautiful newsletters for us for the last several months! Thank you Danielle, you have made my job easier!

Thank you for your continued support of the Outreach Club!

In memory of Riley and Johnny, Jacksonville Elementary School has opened its doors to sponsor a blood drive to benefit others in need. Please join us to honor Riley Davis and Johnny Rozema by
donating blood and giving the gift of life!
Jacksonville fourth-‐grader Riley Davis was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in February 2008. Riley, nicknamed “Sunny D” for his happy, upbeat personality, spent the next four years in and out of the hospital. He would watch Ellen and Jimmy Fallon for a laugh during his hospital stays. Riley, who loved football, Xbox, drawing and collecting old comic books, was able to return to Jacksonville for fifth grade before his leukemia returned. After undergoing many procedures and two bone marrow transplants, he passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital on Dec. 28, 2011. Riley received countless amounts of blood and platelets. The Davis Family resides in the Hereford Zone and Riley's sibling attends Hereford High.
Johnny Rozema was an active 9-‐year-‐old when he was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma in 2007. He loved video games, camping, swimming, watching Sponge Bob Square Pants and the Baltimore Ravens. Johnny's dry sense of humor and quick wit brought smiles to many faces. The Jacksonville Elementary School fourth-‐grader spent nine courageous months fighting the disease, but lost his battle on Dec. 18, 2007. During his hospitalization at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johnny received numerous blood transfusions and platelets. The Rozema Family resides in the Dulaney District and Johnny's siblings attend Jacksonville Elementary & Dulaney High.
