Jacksonville Elementary PTA Greetings JES Families! I hope this finds all of you well and rested from the break. With Spring, I am looking forward to warm days, spring sports and plenty of activities at JES. First, however, I’m sending our positive thoughts and energy to Michelle Caudill (JES parent and 3rd grade teacher) as she continues her battle toward renewed health and undergoes continued treatment for breast cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Stay tuned for information on ways to lend a hand during the times when she is undergoing chemo therapy. Second, please take a quick moment to thank and admire the handiwork of Danielle Confer who took over the JES JetStream and has been producing these beautiful newsletters for us for the last several months! Thank you Danielle, you have made my job easier! THINGS TO REMEMBER IN APRIL: Our annual Blood Drive is Thursday, April 25 from 12-6 in the JES gym. Please consider donating blood and/or signing up for marrow donation, to help save lives. Laura Reiners and her committee have been hard at work to make this blood drive happen – let’s make it the best ever. Please don’t forget to send in toiletries for our Outreach drive this month and pack a sandwich for Beans and Bread on the 24th. Our next PTA meeting is April 12 @ 9:30 am at JES. COMING IN MAY: Spring Carnival -- our Carnival Queen, Kerry Angelos is hard at work with her team of carnival princesses. We can’t wait to experience another extravaganza on May 3rd! Teacher Appreciation Week and Book Fair. Watch for emails about these events in the near future. You’ll have opportunities to help your children show appreciation for JES teachers and staff as well as opportunities to help the kids purchase books that will benefit the library. JES Night at the Orioles! Watch for opportunities to buy tickets and enjoy an evening out with the family at Oriole Park at Camden Yards! Volunteers needed for next year (please contact Jen Meuller if interested in any of these): An incoming 5th grade parent to be in charge of the school store Incoming 4th grade parents to organize 5th grade farewell Picture Parent Happy Spring! N e w sOUTREACH UPDATEBoth the Book and Shoe drives were HUGE successes! Thank you to all the volunteers and students who participated in our Bookmark Kids Club. Thanks to JES, every student at Hawthorne ES was given a new book, PLUS we donated over 300 books to Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital. That is a lot of smiles you made possible! Thank you for your continued support of the Outreach Club!

BEANS AND BREAD IS APRIL 24 Please remember to pack a lunch that can be eaten that day, no canned or dry foods. Also, as the weather gets warmer, please have drinks you pack be room temperature so they don’t sweat through the bags.

To Benefit Hereford Food BankThis year we will be helping out our neighbors by delivering toiletries to Hereford Food Bank. The food bank provides necessities not covered by weekly food stamps and this time of year supplies are running low.

Please add one or two items from the list below or look around your closets if you are

doing a little spring cleaning. Our Toiletry drive begins on 4/8/13 and runs through 4/17/13. If you have any sample sizes or hotel goodies please think about donating them to this drive.
