EQUATIONS held a Consultation on the State of Indian tourism - Towards Building a Model of Stewardship, on 8th and 9th July 2004 at Bangalore. The Consultation involving activists and stakeholders involved in tourism aimed at setting the agenda for the political direction and framework in the coming years - based on the realities at both the macro and destination level. It also provided a space for the participants to engage in common concerns, share their experiences and perspectives on the manner of development of tourism in India and engage in the process of collective search for models of partnership. The participants engaged in dialogue on social, economic and environmental sustainability in tourism development.
