Minutes 1. The Business Meeting was called to order at 11:41 a.m. by Vice President Kristin Asher, on behalf of Chapter
President Chris Petree.
2. Secretary/Treasurers Report (Amy Grothaus) A. Review/Approve Minutes of November 18, 2016 Fall Conference General Business Meeting.
MOTION: Motion made by Jeannine Clancy and seconded by Bob Cockriel to approve the meeting minutes of the November 18, 2016 Fall Conference General Business Meeting as presented. Motion carried.
B. Financial Report
The following balances for financial statements for months ending March 31, 2017 were presented:

MOTION: Motion made by Dave Sonnenberg and seconded by Angela Popenhagen to approve the Minnesota Chapter financial statements for months ending March 31, 2017. Motion carried.
C. Draft Budget – June 30, 2017-July 1, 2018
The draft budget was presented for information purposes. The Executive Committee will give final approval at its June 14, 2017 meeting.
3. National Awards Update (Sarah Lloyd)
The Chapter submitted 15 nominations and received the following seven national awards:
Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year - Lee Gustafson, WSB & Associates
Myron Calkins Young Leader of the Year – Mark Ray, City of Crystal
Exceptional Performance Award (Journalism - Chapter) – APWA-MN Chapter 70th
Anniversary Video
Project of the Year (Environment < $5 million) - City of Mankato Water Treatment Backwash
Project of the Year (Historical Restoration $25 - $75 million) - Hennepin County Franklin Bridge
Donald C. Stone Award for Excellence in Education (Chapter) – APWA-MN Chapter Education & Training Committee
Professional Manager of the Year - Water Resources - Tim Kelly, Coon Creek Watershed District Articles for the award winners will be highlighted on the Chapter website leading up to the 2017 PWX at the end of August.
4. 2017 PWX Chapter Dinner Update (Kristin Asher) The Chapter dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, at the Tapa Toro restaurant, located about a mile from the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. The event will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. with a cocktail hour serving classic and Spanish contemporary hors d’oeuvres. The cost is $40 per person. Checks should be

made out to the APWA-MN Chapter and sent to PO Box 27965, Golden Valley, MN 55427; or online payments are also accepted. Transportation is not provided. Letters of interest for young professionals to apply for the 2017 PWX Stipend are due May 30. The selection will be made in early June.
5. Volunteer Update (Beth Engum) Volunteer opportunities can be found on the Volunteer page on the Chapter’s website. The following opportunities are available:
Committee volunteers for the Audit Committee, Awards Committee, Communications Committee, Diversity Committee, and Education & Training Committee.
Amateur photographer(s).
Education and outreach opportunities.

7. New Business
The Young Professionals Committee is sponsoring its 2nd
annual Graduation and Welcome Party to recent graduates and current students on Thursday, June 8, 2017, 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookview Golf Course in Golden Valley, MN. The barbeque will start at 5 p.m. with lawn bowling following at 6 p.m.
