IAFSA Executive Director to retire; New Director Appointed

During the 2013 Annual Meeting IAFSA President Kelly Raymond '07announced that, after 25 years of service, our Executive Director, MarilynBooth Manzella '69, has decided to retire as of September 1, 2013. TheBoard has appointed her assistant, Debra Regan Cleveland '73, to succeedher on that date.

"We anticipate a smooth transition and the continuation of operations asusual. Debbie is someone who has demonstrated skills and endorsed thetradition of service that is a hallmark of our organization. We have everyconfidence in Debbie's commitment and capability to carry our initiativesforward," said Kelly.

Debbie Regan Cleveland'73, presented the secondannual Touch the FutureAward to Dr. Diane Loweat the Annual Meeting. Dr.Lowe's name was added toa perpetual plaquedisplayed at Alumni House.

She also received a checkfor children's books for herundergraduate andgraduate literary classes.

The Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni is a non-profit, membership organization that was established in 1874 and hasa long tradition of service to its members and the students atFramingham State University. The Association administersscholarship and benevolent funds, maintains Alumni House, and staysin touch with thousands of members across the country.

Seeking an assistant who is available for a part-time, hourly positionwho has office skills and a willingness to learn and share duties in apleasant, two-person, office setting.

IAFSA Job Opportunity

Position: Assistant to the Director, reporting to the Executive Director

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., totaling an average of 25 hours per week (with some flexibility)

Rate: $15.00/hour to start

Duties: Assistant will perform a variety of office assignments including correspondence, filing, organizing, gift processing, writing,data entry, marketing, event planning, and research, for example.

Required qualifications:

Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

A working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs

Aptitude for learning new applications ~ A willingness to perform duties as needed.

Preferred qualifications:

Degree from Framingham State College or Framingham State University ~ Non-profit experience, including fundraising

Financial experience, including bookkeeping, investments, and budgeting.
