Residential Construction With Aluminum Formwork
In the past decade the world has had tremendous growth in residential construction. During this period developers have sought faster and more cost efficient methods of construction. This has led to a large number of developers abandoning traditional methods such as block or post/beam construction in favor of cast in place concrete construction.
While the move to monolithic cast in place construction has been more of a monetary decision based on speed, labor savings, and reduced finishing cost, this has led to exceptionally disaster resistant structures.
These structures are being constructed on a mass scale in such places as Mexico, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and many others countries.
Mexico
Venezuela - 1250 Single Story Duplex's
Chile – 650 Large Single Family Homes
Costa Rica – 300 Two Story Single Family Homes
Guatemala - 800 Unit Townhouse Project
Pachuca, Mexico – 5,800 Home Project
Ensenada, Mexico 12,000 Home Project
Venezuela - 12 Story 36 Building Apartment Project
The Construction Process
After compaction of site, slab forms are erected, trench footings are dug, plumbing and electrical are installed.
Guatemala
The Construction Process
Steel is placed in slab to include wall verticals
Guatemala
The Construction Process
Slab concrete is placed following normal practices.
Mexico

Wall Steel attached to vertical steel.Dominican Republic
The Construction Process
Electrical boxes and conduit are then attached to the wall steel.Mexico
The Construction Process
The conduit used in Mexico is flexible and includes the wiring pre-installed

Electrical Boxes attached to steel
The Construction Process
The WTF formwork used around the world is handset. This may seem labor intensive, but crews of five to ten men can strip, set, and pour a structure a day depending on size.
Brazil
The Construction Process
Handset formwork enablesthe developer to cast most if not all elements of the structure.
This includes structural,non-structural, andarchitectural elements
Guatemala
The Construction Process
Formwork setting begins in a corner. Typically multiple corners arestarted depending on size of crews used.
The Construction Process
Forming continues until all walls are closed. The structure is then ready to receivethe deck formwork.
The Construction Process
Decking forms are also started from a corner and are handset
The Construction Process
Deck completed, ready for steel placement.
The Construction Process
Once decking is in place shoring is installed.
The Construction Process
Deck steel, electrical conduit, and boxes installed.
The Construction Process
A majority of builders use boom pumps to place concrete. Also used are trailer pumps and concrete placement buckets
Venezuela
Jamaica
Brazil
The Construction Process
Formwork is remove the next day, ready to repeat the cycle.
Mexico
The Construction Process
Formwork beams are left undisturbed during the deck form removal process.
Venezuela
The Construction ProcessFinishing materials that are needed are typically no different than the traditionalconstruction methods such as block or post/beam. This material is greatly reduceddue to the smooth concrete walls achieved with the formwork.
Mexico
The Construction Process
For areas that require insulation
Mexico
The Construction Process
Insulation is easily incorporated into the formwork
Mexico
The Construction Process
Once concrete is placed and cured the formwork is removedleaving insulation permanently bonded to the concrete.
Mexico
The Construction Process
Finishing materials are applied directly to the foam
