ALMASS Kuwait, the AluminiAssociation of UzhavoorSt.Stephen’s College in Kuwait

celebrated its first Anniversary on Friday,22 Nov 2013 at Khaitan Indian School.The celebration was inaugurated byprominent Malayalam Cine Artisit LaluAlex who is a former student ofSt.Stephen’s College. The inauguralmeeting was presided by ALMASS chair-man Siby John.

The program started off by bringing

the special guests to the dais in a tradi-tional Keralite ‘red-carpet’ way of wel-coming enriched with bands of drum-mers, pipers and colourful umbrellas.Jijo Thomas welcomed the gatheringand Roby John, the General Secretarypresented ALMASS’ annual report. Afterpresident Siby John’s address, Lalu Alexdelivered the inaugural speech andappealed the audience by sharing hiscollege days’ experiences.

The chief guest Lalu Alex along with

other dignitaries released ALMASS’ bul-letin ‘Memories’ and launched the web-site www.almasskuwait.com after thespeeches of Editor Jijo Mathew andmedia convenor Clintus George. ChessilRamapuram and Jyothidas conveyedthe greetings and Joint Treasurer SibyKurien presented organization’s income-expenditure details. Senior alumni of thecollege were honoured during the func-tion. Joint Sec Shimsen proposed voteof thanks. The program was well com-pered by 98.4 FM fame Lucia.

During the program the general com-mittee also elected the new office bear-ers. Jose Abraham (Chairman), PhilipSimon (General Secretary) and ArunKumar (Treasurer) shall lead the organi-zation in the coming year.

The entertainment part of the pro-gram show-cased the top-notch talentsof ALMASS family members and friends.Audience enjoyed foot tapping dancesof different forms such as classical, cine-matic, Bollywood hits etc. The skit per-formed by ex-students of the collegelead by Joby Jose was the performanceof the day. The program concluded witha musical event. A large crowd assem-bled for the program and the eventswere of an exhilarating experience to all.

of Education (MoE) recentlyheld a special ceremony tohonor the heads of secondaryschool English departmentswho had passed the IELTS train-ing course. The ceremony washeld at the Sheraton Hotelunder the auspices of MOE’sassistant undersecretary forpublic education Dr Khaled Al-Rasheed, ELT SupervisorGeneral, Nouriya Al-Sidra andBCC’s manager, Andrew Glass.Notably, English HODs fromMubarak Al-Kabeer EducationalZone, Samir Al-Saeed,Mohammed Abdul Raziq,Hamdi Al-Nahhas, MohammedAbdul Mon’en, AhmedAbdullah and Hatem Abu Saifwere all honored for passingthe course. Well done guys andkeep up the good work.

ICSK-Junior Branch conduct Diwali Assembly

It was a riot of colors as the students ofICSK Junior celebrated Diwali by put-ting up a spectacular Diwali assembly

in the school premises on Monday 11thNovember 2013 during the school hours.The junior school stage was beamingwith Diwali lamps and colorful decora-tions. Diwali is a joyous occasion thatbrings brightness, joy and happiness toall. The assembly started with the schoolprayer. A few special Diwali songs werepresented by the school choir. The depic-tion of Diwali caught everyone’s atten-tion. It was truly informative.

The students depicted various storiesand legends associated with Diwali,bringing out the underlying theme ofultimate triumph of good over evil. Thedances set to foot tapping numbers andfusion music were appreciated by oneand all. The Principal Incharge SherlyDennis addressed the gathering wishingeveryone Diwali greetings. In her speechshe advised the student to be good, asthe little good deeds they do in theirformative years will all add up and helpthem to become good people when theygrow up. The assembly ended with a voteof thanks.

The Touristic Enterprises Company hosted an Open Day at the Khairan Resort for the Kuwait Down Syndrome Society. A team from the resort’s management led by General Manager Adnan Zinedine wel-comed children and their families who enjoyed a special entertaining program that includes train trips, a boat cruise and lunch at the Al-Behar Restaurant.
