Andy Warhol Spanish Version by Grade 6 Students.

CEIP PLURILINGÜE RÍA DE VIGO

Portfolio Activity. March 2014

Ana Isabel Ferreirós Rey.

Task Description: In this Portfolio Activity GRADE 6 Students have learnt Art

in English following a CLIL Approach. This task, which also deals with both our Plurilingual Project “Society and Nature in Art through English Language and Literature” and the current Library Project “Lendo con Arte” or “Reading in Art”, focuses on “Turning the English Classroom into a Museum” with the collaboration of all Primary Grades.

Since Andy Warhol´s subjects consisted on icons as well as mass-produced products, such as Campbell soup cans or Coca Cola, we have chosen his 32 soup cans and replaced them with Cola Cao, in order to create a piece of work for the “Museum”. Moreover, we also want to give the illusion of a mass produced “Spanish Style” art work.

Thus, besides integrating Warhol´s technique with the English Language, we intend to foster communication. Once the English Museum Transformation is over, the students should explain this techique and their work to the other students in the next Museum Exhibition.

After presenting the Painter and his technique in the English Language, the students drew their own Andy Warhol version, replacing the soup cans for Cola Cao.

Some students show their work.

To create our Andy Warhol Spanish version, the students drew the 32 Cola Cao pictures in rough paper.

Afterwards, we sticked the drawings on a black card.

Before hanging the pictures on the wall, we put them around the Art Classroom.

Next, we sticked them on the English classroom walls, making the whole picture with the 32 Cola Cao drawings.

Finally, we took a picture with our Andy Warhol Spanish Version on the background.
