It was so nice to see
all the excited
campers' faces
rushing through
the doors of Mishkan Shalom. A
place nice enough to let our kids
just bask in the glory of summer.
We had an amazing first week of
camp! Only after a few days did
we already feel like we we're in a
groove. We jumped right into
swimming on the first day of
camp. We have the privilege this
year of going swimming three
times a
week
(every
Monday,
Wednesday,
and Thurs-
day). Some-
thing we're
all excited
about. And
we have
our amaz-
ing bus
driver, Brandon, taking us to and
fro. As you get off the bus, you
can almost feel
your ear-
drums falling
out of place
from the
yelling of
2,4,6,8, who
do we appre-
ciate?! Bran-
don, Bran-
don, yay
Brandon!
Every morning we've been
giving out tickets to all the camp-
ers that
have been
davening
and learn-
ing nicely,
and at
lunch we
raffle off
two prizes.
So far kids
have won
Gatorade, a
Phillies
blow up
bat, and other great prizes. We
can't forget to mention our won-
derful Rabbeim, Rabbi Duskis
and Rabbi Nulman who have
been such an amazing asset to
camp. Thank you for your won-
derful words of wisdom and may
you have continued success with
our campers!
Trip Day
On Tuesday, the younger have
of camp went to Chuck E.
Cheese. All the kids came back
with really great prizes. The
older half went to Sky Zone. The
head staffs' backs are still recov-
ering from the excessive bounc-
ing, but everyone else seems to
have come out unscathed. We
had a lot of fun there with all the
different games. They had tram-
poline basketball and dodgeball,
a big area where you can jump
around and do cool flips (or at
least attempt to do cool flips),
and other great activites. We
WE ARE BACK! AND CAMP ACHDUS IS MORE AWESOME THAN EVER!

MMMM uch excitment is
in the air with the
arrival of a new
face in Camp Achdus. Born in
the far north regions of Ant-
arctica, Shaul, colloquially
known as Shauli, has a long
history in summer camps. Ever
since he was a small child, he
has been working in a summer
camp for sled dogs in the vari-

opened the canteen on Tues-
day to serve all of the campers'
snacking needs. They're espe-
cially excited for canteen on
swim days because somehow
you get super hungry by the
time you're done swimming.
That explains the vending ma-
chine parked right next to the
pool at the Y.M.C.A. They defi-
nitely know what they're do-
ing. The canteens offerings
includes danishes, chips, cook-
ies, water (which is so un-
healthy), Gatorade, ice pops,
lebens, and more! The kids
need their nutritious foods if
they want to survive the sum-
mer!
Camp Achdus Shows
its Colors
On Thursday and Friday,
the whole camp got to Tie Dye
their white shirts they had
brought from home. Rabbi
Michelsohn led the way, going
through each step with the
kids, showing them exact in-
structions and making sure
the shirts would come out
nicely. These shirts will be
processed over the next few
days, and turned into dazzling
camp tee shirts!
The Competition is
ON!
Starting on Wednesday,
there was a competition to see
which bunk
could bench
the loudest.
The prize for
the winners
would be the
privilege to
use the awe-
some, most
amazing,
blow-up wa-
ter slide on Friday. The bunk
that benched the loudest was
none other than the CITs!
Good job guys and good job to
all the other bunks who really
tried hard.
Special Activities
We have had a lot of fun
activities during lunch and at
other points throughout the
day involving the whole camp.
There was a dance off, we
played The Blind Fold Game
(where two campers are blind-
folded and one has to feed the
other applesauce), Brother/
Brother (where we had three
sets of brother face off against
each other to see which set of
brothers knew his brother
best. The Golas won that com-
petion with the Badushes and
the Bells not losing by much.
These guys really know their
brothers), and other really fun
games. We truly had an ex-
cited first week of camp with
Rabbi Michelsohn as an amaz-
ing head! We can't wait for
next week already to continue
having a great time, and we're
looking forward to continuing
to build a bond with all the
campers to truly create an
ACHDUS like no other.

ous arctic regions. His posi-
tions there included building
igloos for shelter and and
Ice-Fishing coach. When he
was twelve years old he
thought it was time for a
change of scenery. With
nothing but a dollar fifty in
pennies he found on the
ground, he started his jour-
ney toward a new destina-
tion: The Great Amazon Jun-
gle. By the time he was 14
he had became a counselor
in a sum-
mer camp
for mon-
keys. He
excelled in
jumping
from vine
to vine
after his
campers.
Not find-
ing this
fufilling enough, Shaully de-
cided to find a job more
geared toward human inter-
action. That's what brought
him to
China. But
that story
is for an-
other
time.
Eventually
our good
friend
found his
way to the
Holy Land
of Eretz Yisroel where he
quickly found his way back
to his roots. Learning the
language almost immedi-
ately, he joined a Yeshiva
and quickly became the top
student of his day. After
marrying a girl from Phila-
delphia, Shauli settled in the
small town of Remot Eshkol
(I think) After hearing about
his experience in camps,
Camp Achdus offered him a
job where he now resides as
Head Counselor. Feel free to
go up to him at anytime to
ask him about his past camp
experiences. I'm sure he
would love to talk about it.
:)
