Many students want to join a higher study program at one of the top universities of New Zealand. However, one of the most important things to take care of is visa application. Before applying for a student visa for New Zealand, you should know the entire process.

Stay Duration and Visa Validity

Generally, the visa validity depends on your course duration. If you've paid tuition fees of two years then you might get a student visa valid for two years only. However, exceptions are there.

And if you're on a scholarship program then your visa remains valid up to four years at the maximum.

On the other hand, you can enroll in a university or college that has a memorandum of understanding with the Immigration of New Zealand and get an extended visa.

Parents or Guardian Visa

If you are a student aged 13 or below, one of your parents or guardians need accompany you during the course and apply for a parental visa or a visitor's visa. However, in case you're 14 or above, your parents can apply for parent or guardian visa if needed.

Part-Time or Full-Time Study Program

You need to go for a full-time study program in order to be eligible for a study visa New Zealand.

However, you may get a part-time study visa as per the following- in case you're visiting New Zealand for maximum nine months, you're education provider is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to admit international students, if you've already paid tuition fees and if you fulfill all other visitor requirements as per the New Zealand Embassy.
