With the generous encouragement and support from the NAAC, Bengaluru, the SLQAC of,
Haryana organized a webinar on “NAAC’s Assessment and Accreditation Process” on 21st July
2020 at 11:00 AM. Around 1050 participants comprising of principals and IQAC coordinators of
Government and Grant-in-aid Colleges of Haryana State participated in the webinar. The event
started with an opening remark by Dr. Hemant Verma, Deputy Director, Higher Education of
Haryana, wherein he extended his warm welcome to the participants and resource persons of the
webinar; Dr. K. Rama, Adviser, NAAC; Dr. Devender Kawday, Deputy Adviser, NAAC; Dr.
Shyam Singh Inda, and Dr. Vinita Sahu, Assistant Adviser, NAAC. He emphasized that the
criterion prescribed for NAAC accreditation is so objective, holistic and comprehensive calling for
sufficient focus on each and every aspect so as to meet the current requirements and global
standards in the field of higher education. He appealed to the entire faculty, non-teaching staff, and
other stake holders to work collectively to showcase positive aspects in order to fulfill NAAC
requirements with a hope to bag a promising grade in the ensuing cycle. Lastly, he enumerated the
importance of organizing this webinar on NAAC’s A &A process for the colleges of Haryana
which is essential in improving the quality of higher education in the state and orienting them about
the current process of NAAC and requested NAAC to organize such programmes for the
Universities of the State. This will help in continuous quality improvement, in order to facilitate
the institutions in order to take necessary initiatives and efforts for improving the quality of higher
education in the state.
In her welcome address, Dr. K. Rama, Adviser, NAAC welcomed all participants and appreciated
their efforts in this continuous quality improvement drive and coming forward to attend this
webinar. She emphasized that 70% of the A & A process relies on online mode wherein all the
quantitative metrics submitted by the higher education institutes will be thoroughly verified and
validated by a Data Verification and Validation (DVV) partner. Further, she elaborated on
providing equity and access to education to all students and it’s their right too. Regarding teacher
quality she shared 21 qualities of teacher which are essential in the 21st century and on the need of
improvement of quality education in HEIs with acceptable global standards in which the traditional
methods of education and digital initiatives both have to play an important role. She also
emphasized that collection of data from the academic departments and administrative wings will
certainly be helpful in identifying Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT
analysis) and provide opportunity to HEIs for improving the overall quality.
Dr. Devender Kawday, Deputy Adviser, NAAC gave a detailed presentation on NAAC’s
Assessment and Accreditation process and IIQA. In the initial part of his session he briefed about
the registration process, concept of IIQA, related documents to be submitted during IIQA process
and the timeline for HEI to respond to the clarification. He further highlighted about the core
values, vision, and mission and how NAAC facilitates the HEI to climb the quality ladder. He
elaborated about the seven criterions, key indicators and the subsequent metric involved in the
manual. While keeping in mind the diversity of higher education in Indian Contact he further

briefed about the optional metrics, its utility to the HEIs with related rules to be followed while
opting the metrics.
Later, Dr. Shyam Singh Inda briefed about the self-study report and importance of going through
the tool tips related with filling of SSR. He explained about the various components involved in
SSR and types of questions asked in SSR, citing examples. He further highlighted on importance
of going through SOP, reading manuals and glossary for better understanding of the metrics. He
later covered about Student Satisfaction Survey, highlighting on the guidelines involved in SSS
and efforts that can be made by the institution in reaching the desirable level and successful
completion of SSS.
Dr. Vinita Sahu, in her presentation explained about Data Verification and Validation (DVV)
process, standard operating procedures for DVV in ascertaining and validating the authenticity of
submitted data and corresponding award of points to quantitative metrics. She stressed on the
importance of truthful submission and representation of all the required data for the claim made
by HEI. Further, she explained in detail about the modalities of Peer Team visit management on-
site visit and Annual Quality Assurance report.
Later, Dr. K. Rama Adviser NAAC responded to the Questions and doubts raised by the
participants.
Finally, Dr Rajinder Singh Rana Nodal officer SLQAC Haryana proposed vote of thanks. He
expressed special gratitude to NAAC team for their informative and useful presentations. He also
expressed gratitude to the SLQAC and Higher Education Administration for their constant
encouragement and support in conducting the webinar. He further shared his heartful thanks to all
the participants of the webinar to make it a grand success.
