STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: DivisionalCommissioner, SanjeevVerma today reviewed theprogress on disposal ofclaims and objectionsreceived in connection withSpecial Summary Revision ofElectoral Rolls and theirdata entry in the ERO NET,here at a meeting.

The meeting was attendedby District Election OfficerMohammad Aijaz Asad,EROs, AEROs and BLOs ofthe District and other seniorofficials.

The Div Com stressed onmulti-layered checking byDEO, ERO, AERO, andBLO to verify the correct-ness of e-rolls / disposal ofForms 6, 7, 8 and 8A andalso asked BLOs to ensurecorrectness of the e-roll.

He also conducted physicalverification of the rolls, espe-cially where highestAdditions and deletions wereobserved.

He also held a detailed dis-cussion with the EROs,

AEROs with regard to theprogress made on the NSVPPortal, ERO NET Portaland publishing of the PVCEPICs in the district.

He also enquired about thePublic grievances system atdistrict level as well as EROsystem and SMS servicesbeing provided to the newvoters.

The Div Com gave on spotinstructions to EROs andBLOs to verify all claims andobjections carefully and dis-pose-off following due proce-dure so that up-to-date and

error free electoral rolls areprepared particularly in viewof forth coming elections. Healso advised the officers toissues notices where thereinvolves addition or dele-tions.

A detailed discussion wasalso held with regard to errordetecting software DSE, log-ical errors.

District Election officerinformed that there are total4,02,797 voters including12,779 new voters in the dis-trict.

He said a total of 24414

applications were receivedfor additions out of which23412 have been accepted,while 978 were rejected,while 1003 pleas were havereceived for deletion, out ofwhich 967 were accepted and36 rejected.

The DEO further informedthat rolls have been thor-oughly checked to ensure thatnames of all the eminent per-sonalities of the district areincluded and notices areserved while making deletionsand reasonable opportunityto be heard is given in allcases.

It was also informed that around the clock control roomhas been set up at districtlevel for receiving publicgrievances. Moreover thepublic can directly contactthe EROs and AEROs.

Meanwhile, the Div. Comalso reviewed the progressmade under Special summaryrevision for district Poonchand advised the authorities toensure that no eligible voter isleft or deleted.

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,Mohammad Aijaz Asad onTuesday reviewed the statusof major development andlanguishing projects takenup under R&B, PHE,PDD, Tourism, Irrigation,Flood Control, and RDDsectors, here at a meeting ofcivil functionaries and engi-neers.

Taking stock of PWD proj-ects, the DDC was informedthat 16 bridges worth Rs.27.62 crore and 61 roadscosting Rs. 97.97 crore havebeen approved under the lan-guishing projects for the dis-trict.

In PHE sector, 34 schemesstand approved under thelanguishing projects forwhich Rs. 31.02 crore hasbeen released, while 43 proj-ects worth Rs. 2.31 crorehave been sanctioned inPHE Mechanical and 13schemes worth Rs. 9.48crore have been approved forI&FC sector languishingprojects. Similarly, 10 under

languishing projects worthRs. 1.61 crore have beensanctioned under educationsector. The DDC tookscheme wise review of proj-ects undertaken by differentdepartments and fundedunder the languishing proj-ects and CAPEX Budget2018-19. It was informedthat the work on all theapproved bridges and otherprojects has been started andare at different phases of exe-cution. Meanwhile, the DDCordered constitution ofDistrict CoordinationCommittee under the chair-manship of ADDC to take upand sort out interdepartmen-tal issues. The meeting wasattended by Chief PlanningOfficer, YoginderKatoch,ASP, Liaqat Choudhary,CEO RDA Firdous Ahmed,CMO, DrSunil Sharma, SEPHE, SE PWD, ChiefHorticulture Officer, ChiefAgriculture Officer,Executive Engineers PHE,PDD and RajouriDevelopment Authority andother district officers.

BANIHAL: Two people were killed and another injured when

their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge here

Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place at the Chapnari area in the Banihal

belt of Ramban district, they said.

The victims, Mohmmad Shafi Bhora and Shafi Lone, died

on the spot, while driver Arif sustained injuries and was

undergoing treatment at a local hospital, officials said.

RAMBAN/UDHAMPUR: Police on Tuesday arrested three

drug peddlers including a Gujjar and recovered 12 kg 200

grams of Charas from their possession.

As per the details, on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita

Sharma, a police party led by SHO Ramban Insp Vijay

Kotwal under supervision of DySP Hqrts Ramban Asgar

Malik and under close supervision of Adll. SP Sanjay Parihar

during patrolling of the Ramban Market intercepted a sus-

pected person who on seeing the police near T-Chowk

Ramban started fleeing from the spot.

During search, about 200 grams of narcotic

substance(Charas) was recovered from the possession of a

Gujjar which was identified as Riyaz Ahmed son of Shams

Din resident of Chanderkote, Ramban. He was arrested and

a case vide FIR No 05/19 under section 8/20 of NDPS Act

was registered against him at Police Station Ramban.

It was disclosed that smugglers have applied dubious

modus operandi by using car bearing registration number of

Maharashtra state to fool the police for safe passage. Two

persons of District Shopian involved in illegal trade identified

as Abdual Qayum Khandey son of Bali Mohd. Gohar

Khandey son of Mohd Ramzan Khandey were arrested and

a case vide FIR No. 12/19 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was

registered against them.

tillation and destroyed 15 Ltrs. illicit liquor and 50 Ltrs.

ducted raid at village Jadh, Panjgrain and seized 15 Ltrs.

KATHUA: In a major move towards curbing traffic viola-

tions, a team of Regional Transport Office today seized 12

buses plying on Jammu- Kathua route for tampering with

the speed governors during a surprise inspection.

The inspection team, headed by Regional Transport Officer,

Dr. Raj K. Thapa, and comprising ARTO Kuldeep Singh,

Motor Vehicle Inspectors Vikas Srivats and Kamal Kumar

besides other officials of MVD checked a total of 57 mode of

vehicles plying on road targeting mainly the buses plying on

National Highway and other major roads. The buses seized

were JK02BF 2057, JK02AX 7277, JK02BN 8369,

JK02AW 5681, JK02AQ 7511, JK02BL 0675, JK02AM

1067, JK14D 4922, JK02AS 9055, JK08B 9299, JK02AF

9897 and JK02AP 1575.

In addition, various other vehicles were Challaned and com-

pounded for offences like plying without uniform (1), over-

loading passengers (1), without driving licence i.e. Section

3/181 of MV Act (1), Section 177 of MV Act (6), Section

66/192 (A) of MV Act (2), plying without route permit (1).

On spot fine amounting Rs. 14,000 was also recovered as

compound fee.

Dr. Raj K. Thapa said that over speeding is one of the

major causes of road accidents and civil society, particularly

the travellers/ passengers, must come forward to supplement

the efforts of Motor Vehicle and Traffic Department in curb-

ing this menace and other traffic violations.

23 bovines rescued, 2 Gujjars arrested STATE TIMES NEWS

NAGROTA/Jhajjar Kotli: Police on Tuesday foiled two

bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 23 animals and arresting

two Gujjars, however another managed to flee from the spot.

As per the details, Nagrota Police during a Naka intercept-

ed a vehicle and during search found it laden with 13 bovines

which were rescued. Two Gujjars who were smuggling these

bovines were arrested and were identified as Chand Khan

and Imran resident of Saharanpur.

Meanwhile, Jhajjar Kotli Police rescued 10 bovines from a

truck, however Gujjar who was smuggling these bovines

managed to escape from the spot. Police has registered a case

and launched manhunt to nab him.

AKHNOOR: A woman was found hangingin her house on Tuesday under mysteriouscircumstances. The woman identified asSeema Devi, wife of Suraj Singh, resident ofBachyal Jaswan was found hanging in herroom.
