Wednesday January 9, 2019 4 DISTRICTS STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma today reviewed the progress on disposal of claims and objections received in connection with Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls and their data entry in the ERO NET, here at a meeting. The meeting was attended by District Election Officer Mohammad Aijaz Asad, EROs, AEROs and BLOs of the District and other senior officials. The Div Com stressed on multi-layered checking by DEO, ERO, AERO, and BLO to verify the correct- ness of e-rolls / disposal of Forms 6, 7, 8 and 8A and also asked BLOs to ensure correctness of the e-roll. He also conducted physical verification of the rolls, espe- cially where highest Additions and deletions were observed. He also held a detailed dis- cussion with the EROs, AEROs with regard to the progress made on the NSVP Portal, ERO NET Portal and publishing of the PVC EPICs in the district. He also enquired about the Public grievances system at district level as well as ERO system and SMS services being provided to the new voters. The Div Com gave on spot instructions to EROs and BLOs to verify all claims and objections carefully and dis- pose-off following due proce- dure so that up-to-date and error free electoral rolls are prepared particularly in view of forth coming elections. He also advised the officers to issues notices where there involves addition or dele- tions. A detailed discussion was also held with regard to error detecting software DSE, log- ical errors. District Election officer informed that there are total 4,02,797 voters including 12,779 new voters in the dis- trict. He said a total of 24414 applications were received for additions out of which 23412 have been accepted, while 978 were rejected, while 1003 pleas were have received for deletion, out of which 967 were accepted and 36 rejected. The DEO further informed that rolls have been thor- oughly checked to ensure that names of all the eminent per- sonalities of the district are included and notices are served while making deletions and reasonable opportunity to be heard is given in all cases. It was also informed that a round the clock control room has been set up at district level for receiving public grievances. Moreover the public can directly contact the EROs and AEROs. Meanwhile, the Div. Com also reviewed the progress made under Special summary revision for district Poonch and advised the authorities to ensure that no eligible voter is left or deleted. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Tuesday reviewed the status of major development and languishing projects taken up under R&B, PHE, PDD, Tourism, Irrigation, Flood Control, and RDD sectors, here at a meeting of civil functionaries and engi- neers. Taking stock of PWD proj- ects, the DDC was informed that 16 bridges worth Rs. 27.62 crore and 61 roads costing Rs. 97.97 crore have been approved under the lan- guishing projects for the dis- trict. In PHE sector, 34 schemes stand approved under the languishing projects for which Rs. 31.02 crore has been released, while 43 proj- ects worth Rs. 2.31 crore have been sanctioned in PHE Mechanical and 13 schemes worth Rs. 9.48 crore have been approved for I&FC sector languishing projects. Similarly, 10 under languishing projects worth Rs. 1.61 crore have been sanctioned under education sector. The DDC took scheme wise review of proj- ects undertaken by different departments and funded under the languishing proj- ects and CAPEX Budget 2018-19. It was informed that the work on all the approved bridges and other projects has been started and are at different phases of exe- cution. Meanwhile, the DDC ordered constitution of District Coordination Committee under the chair- manship of ADDC to take up and sort out interdepartmen- tal issues. The incident took place at the Chapnari area in the Banihal belt of Ramban district, they said. The victims, Mohmmad Shafi Bhora and Shafi Lone, died on the spot, while driver Arif sustained injuries and was undergoing treatment at a local hospital, officials said. Gujjar among 3 drug peddlers nabbed with over 12 kg Charas STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN/UDHAMPUR: Police on Tuesday arrested three drug peddlers including a Gujjar and recovered 12 kg 200 grams of Charas from their possession. As per the details, on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, a police party led by SHO Ramban Insp Vijay Kotwal under supervision of DySP Hqrts Ramban Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Adll. SP Sanjay Parihar during patrolling of the Ramban Market intercepted a sus- pected person who on seeing the police near T-Chowk Ramban started fleeing from the spot. During search, about 200 grams of narcotic substance(Charas) was recovered from the possession of a Gujjar which was identified as Riyaz Ahmed son of Shams Din resident of Chanderkote, Ramban. He was arrested and a case vide FIR No 05/19 under section 8/20 of NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Ramban. Meanwhile, a police party headed by SHO Police station Udhampur Sanjeev Singh Chib under the supervision of Dy SP ZS Wani and overall supervision of SSP Udh Rajiv Pandey laid a Naka near Jakheni Chowk on Jammu Kashmir National Highway and During search of a Tata Indico car (MH02AY-8677) which was its way to Punjab from Srinagar recovered 12 kg Charas from it. It was disclosed that smugglers have applied dubious modus operandi by using car bearing registration number of Maharashtra state to fool the police for safe passage. Two persons of District Shopian involved in illegal trade identified as Abdual Qayum Khandey son of Bali Mohd. Gohar Khandey son of Mohd Ramzan Khandey were arrested and a case vide FIR No. 12/19 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered against them. RTO seizes 12 buses, recovers Rs 14,000 as compound fee STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: In a major move towards curbing traffic viola- tions, a team of Regional Transport Office today seized 12 buses plying on Jammu- Kathua route for tampering with the speed governors during a surprise inspection. The inspection team, headed by Regional Transport Officer, Dr. Raj K. Thapa, and comprising ARTO Kuldeep Singh, Motor Vehicle Inspectors Vikas Srivats and Kamal Kumar besides other officials of MVD checked a total of 57 mode of vehicles plying on road targeting mainly the buses plying on National Highway and other major roads. The buses seized were JK02BF 2057, JK02AX 7277, JK02BN 8369, JK02AW 5681, JK02AQ 7511, JK02BL 0675, JK02AM 1067, JK14D 4922, JK02AS 9055, JK08B 9299, JK02AF 9897 and JK02AP 1575. Thapa said that over speeding is one of the major causes of road accidents and civil society, particularly the travellers/ passengers, must come forward to supplement the efforts of Motor Vehicle and Traffic Department in curb- ing this menace and other traffic violations. 23 bovines rescued, 2 Gujjars arrested STATE TIMES NEWS NAGROTA/Jhajjar Kotli: Police on Tuesday foiled two bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 23 animals and arresting two Gujjars, however another managed to flee from the spot. As per the details, Nagrota Police during a Naka intercept- ed a vehicle and during search found it laden with 13 bovines which were rescued. Two Gujjars who were smuggling these bovines were arrested and were identified as Chand Khan and Imran resident of Saharanpur. Meanwhile, Jhajjar Kotli Police rescued 10 bovines from a truck, however Gujjar who was smuggling these bovines managed to escape from the spot. Police has registered a case and launched manhunt to nab him. STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: Advisor to Governor, K.K Sharma on Tuesday conducted an extensive tour of Katra and inspected progress on devel- opment projects coming up in the holy township. He also held a meeting with officials of various departments to discuss issues of the town. They want that government should allow them to construct Kucha hous- es as it is easy to be constructed in this amount and preferably good during the border shelling as the splinters don't pass through Kucha walls. Some college going girls approached her with the plea that they couldn't get themselves admit- ted to the college because of non availability of fee as no ST scholarship was provided to them. Public also demanded that PDD authorities should remove HT/LT lines passing near their houses as it could be dangerous for their lives. KATHUA: In a major move towards curbing traffic viola-

tions, a team of Regional Transport Office today seized 12

buses plying on Jammu- Kathua route for tampering with

the speed governors during a surprise inspection.

The inspection team, headed by Regional Transport Officer,

Dr. Raj K. Thapa, and comprising ARTO Kuldeep Singh,

Motor Vehicle Inspectors Vikas Srivats and Kamal Kumar

besides other officials of MVD checked a total of 57 mode of

vehicles plying on road targeting mainly the buses plying on

National Highway and other major roads. The buses seized

were JK02BF 2057, JK02AX 7277, JK02BN 8369,

JK02AW 5681, JK02AQ 7511, JK02BL 0675, JK02AM

1067, JK14D 4922, JK02AS 9055, JK08B 9299, JK02AF

9897 and JK02AP 1575.

In addition, various other vehicles were Challaned and com-

pounded for offences like plying without uniform (1), over-

loading passengers (1), without driving licence i.e. Section

3/181 of MV Act (1), Section 177 of MV Act (6), Section

66/192 (A) of MV Act (2), plying without route permit (1).

On spot fine amounting Rs. 14,000 was also recovered as

compound fee.

Dr. Raj K. Thapa said that over speeding is one of the

major causes of road accidents and civil society, particularly

the travellers/ passengers, must come forward to supplement

the efforts of Motor Vehicle and Traffic Department in curb-

ing this menace and other traffic violations.

NAGROTA/Jhajjar Kotli: Police on Tuesday foiled two

bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 23 animals and arresting

two Gujjars, however another managed to flee from the spot.

As per the details, Nagrota Police during a Naka intercept-

ed a vehicle and during search found it laden with 13 bovines

which were rescued. Two Gujjars who were smuggling these

bovines were arrested and were identified as Chand Khan

and Imran resident of Saharanpur.

Meanwhile, Jhajjar Kotli Police rescued 10 bovines from a

truck, however Gujjar who was smuggling these bovines

managed to escape from the spot. Police has registered a case

and launched manhunt to nab him.
