STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,Angrez Singh Rana onSunday chaired a publicgrievance redress camp hereat Nali village Bounjwah tohave the first-hand appraisalof public issues.

A team of senior officers ofline departments accompa-nied the DC at the campattended by prominent civilsociety members of blockBounjwah and locals.

The locals projected infra-structure requirementsincluding roads, power,water, healthcare and ade-quate patient care in healthcenters and establishment ofblood bank.

Compensation to the own-ers for the land acquired forDunadi Bonjwah road, mak-ing the local receiving stationfunctional and start ofHarnoi Power Project wasalso demanded by the peo-ple.

They further sought bene-fits to maximum number ofpeople under old aged pen-sion and marriage assistancescheme for poor girls andrelease of pending wages,material payments underMGNREGA and SBM. Thepeople also demanded ade-quate staff in schools, playfield, tourist centre and

tourist hut at Devigool .The locals also complained

about acute water scarcityand demanded immediaterelease of salary to HR work-ers, income certificate forscholarship scheme, besidesaddressing Horticulture andagriculture, animal hus-bandry related issues.

The DC gave a patienthearing to the public andassured that all the genuinedemands would be met in duecourse of time.

Regarding bad condition ofDunadi-Bonjwah road, theDDC said that the renovationof the road- the only life lineof the area shall be startedvery soon. He directedTehsildar to go for mappingof roads to remove encroach-ments with the help of policeauthorities and Line depart-ments within two weeks. The

Power DevelopmentDepartment authoritiesinformed that the un-electri-fied villages of Bonjwah areawill be electrified within twomonths. The DDC directedXEN PDD to immediatelyerect electric polls whereverrequired within a week.

The Social welfare depart-ment informed that 676 casesof old age pension have beenregistered and 76 stand sub-mitted under marriage assis-tance in which 48 were givenassistance. The DDC direct-ed DSWO to ensure disburse-ment of payment in remain-ing cases within shortest pos-sible time.

Responding to the demandwith regard to the upgrada-tion of Agricultural Building,the DDC issued on spotdirections to the concernedofficer for immediate redress

of the issue.In response to the water

scarcity problem of the area,DDC directed XEN PHE toclear the bottlenecks andaddress the drinking waterissue on priority.

Responding to the demandof playfield in HSSBounjwah , the DDCassured that the work shallbe executed in convergenceunder MGNREGA and CDF.In this regard, the DDCinformed that he willapproach the local MLA forrelease of funds under CDF.

Further, DDC directedACD, Kishtwar, DPOKishtwar and BDO Bonjwahfor immediate release ofpending payments underMGNREGA and SBM with-out fail otherwise strict disci-plinary action against theerring officer(s) shall follow.

Responding to the issueraised by a local electorate,the DDC directed localTehsildar to immediatelymove records of voter lists toTehsil Bounjwah for generalinformation of the public.

Taking strong note of com-plaint about lackadaisicalapproach adopted by someemployees in performingtheir legitimate duties, theDDC warned of makingadverse entry in the ServiceBooks of erring officials.

STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Thousandsconverged at historicalKhakhal locality ofBhadarwah on last day ofthe holy three day Mela Patton Sunday. The Mela isbeing celebrated every yearto commemorate the his-toric meet between Akbarand Raja Nagpal ofBhaderwah in 16th centuryat Delhi.

Mela Patt festival is devot-ed to Lord Vaskui Naag, thepresiding deity ofBhadarwah Valley, beingcelebrated on Nag Panchmievery year. This Mela wasfirst initiated by RajaNagpal in 16th century asthe ruler of that small prin-cipality called the thenBhaderkashi which is nowknown as Bhadarwah.

The Mela is organised onthe conclusion of theKailash Yatra in whichthousands of people drawnfrom different parts of theState and elsewhere partici-pate to take blessings ofVasuki Nag.

On the occasion, peoplealso participated in the tra-ditional Dikko Dance, whichmakes this festival a symbolof peace, pride and commu-nal harmony. The royalrobes that was presented byKing Akbar to Raja Nagpalof Bhadarwah in his honourwas also displayed duringthe 'Mela Patt'.

Main organiser (known asDashnan) of the festival,Advocate Naresh KumarGupta said that this festivalis not only the symbol ofreligion but also depicts ourproud unique heritage andmutual brotherhood.

Perhaps this is the only fes-tival of India which is beingcelebrated for the last 600years without any untowardor ugly incident, whichclearly shows communalharmony of this area andrespect for Raja Nag Palirrespective of religion.

On the occasion, peoplealso installed many stalls ofeatables, toys, religiousbooks and others at thevenue.

Meanwhile elaborate secu-rity arrangements weremade in and around thevenue of festival to thwartany untoward incident.

KATHUA: A team ofPolice Station HiranagarKathua arrested a driveraccused of causing deathof three persons in an acci-dent and managed to fleeaway from the spot.

Incident took place nearKatal Gujrian SherpurHiranagar when a driverof matador ( JK02S-6875) coming fromRajpura Ghagwal toSherpur Hiranagar, driv-ing rashly and negligentlyhit a two wheeler (JK08C-8974) causing death ofthree persons riding onmotorcycle. The deceasedwere identified as RamDass son of NarsinghDayal resident of Kootah,Anita Devi widow ofSanjay Kumar and herdaughter Pallavi residentof Kootah.

The arrested driver iden-tified as Ashok Kumar sonof Sardar Chand residentof Nai Basti JandiHiranagar was arrestedand a case under relevantsections of law was regis-tered in the incident.

STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: DeputyInspector General of PoliceDKR Range Rafiq-Ul-Hassam held a crime reviewmeeting of Police Sub-Division of KishtwarChatroo , Marwah andAtholi.

During the meeting DIGDKR Range Rafiq-ul-Hassan examined the per-formance of Police Stations.The main focus of the meet-ing was to improve the qual-ity of investigation of acci-dent cases, motor vehicletheft, burglary, NDPS Actand other cases. Besides,missing persons, inquestproceedings, arrest ofabsconders and action takenunder preventive measureswere also reviewed. Theissue of public complaintspending with Police Sub-Division also discussed.

In the meeting DIG DKRRange Shri Rafiq-Ul-Hassan discussed all MVtheft cases one by one. Headvised SHO for finalisation

of the pending cases/publiccomplaints to give the reliefto the general public. DIGpersonally checked the casefiles of heinous offences andtook serious note of it anddirected I/Os for speedy dis-posal of cases assigned tothem for conducting theinvestigation. He alsoadvised the police stationsstaff to conduct footpatrolling in their respectivejurisdictions. The investigat-ing staff was also directed toconduct the investigation ofcases with zeal, dedicationand with transparency at an

earliest possible time in thepublic interest and bring thependency to the minimum.

The DDC delivered adetailed lecture on the prepa-ration for Civil Services exam-ination and gave subject wiseintroduction. He advised thestudent to have a brief outlookof all subjects and that read-ing newspapers is very impor-tant for Civil Services Exam.He also informed students tostress on basics of their con-cerned subjects.

The DDC inspired studentsby informing them about hisown journey to IAS and gaveseveral examples to motivatethe young students. He alsorecommended leading books,newspapers and online plat-forms for the preparation ofcivil services exam.

He said the PDD has beenasked to provide round theclock power supply to thetown and in case of anyurgency the generators shallbe kept available. Accordingly, PHEDepartment has been direct-ed that apart from uninter-

rupted water supply, mobiletankers must be kept readyto avoid any exigency. ChiefMedical officer informed thatone ambulance will be keptready and medical camps willbe setup during Urs days.

Similarly R&B Departmentwas directed to make neces-sary repair of the roadapproaching to the shrine ifrequired.

Members present in themeeting condemned the stepmotherly treatment given bythe Director SchoolEducation Jammu for grant-ing recognition to number ofschools up to class 8th by thepick and choose methodalthough High Court ofJammu and Kashmir hasdirected DSE Jammu togrant recognition to all suchschools whose cases are subjudice without any NOCfrom the FFC. GeneralSecretary of the JKPSAAjay Gupta urged all theentrepreneurs of the self

financed schools not to sub-mit any file to the FFC untiland unless government of J&K comes out with clear cutpolicies and rules for theoperation of fee fixation.

Rameshwar Mengiappealed to the owners of theprivate schools that thoseschools which have gotapproval of its school feefrom the FFC should chargeonly that approved fee fromthe parents and should pro-vide authentic receipt so thatthere is no hue and cryamong the masses.
