A 3D PRINTING LAB IN A BUSINESS SCHOOL?

ENGINEERS and...

DESIGNERS...

GRIND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

TO A HALT

BRIDGE THE GAP

REMEMBER THE 1st COMPUTER LABS

IN THE EARLY 80's, MOST COULD NOT UNDERSTAND, WHY?

BY 1990, EVERY UNIVERSITY HAD ONE

TODAY IS 1982

5 YEARS - ALL SCHOOLS WILL HAVE

3DP LABS

RAPID PROTOTYPING

ENTREPRENEURS BECOMING DESIGNERS

CUSTOMER DISCOVERY & DESIGN THINKING

FEEDBACK LOOP IS 3 DAYS NOT 3 MONTHS

TO ITERATE ON DESIGNS

BEFORE 3DP LABS• Students had minimal resources to prototype

• Only those with previous artistic ability designed quality prototypes

• Gap in our program that could be overcome

LACKED FUNDS & TIME TO WORK WITH ENGINEERS

Providing SBUS students with 3D Printing resources will exponentially elevate their ability to design and create advanced prototypes and Minimum Viable Products (MVP)

STUDENTS HAD MINIMAL RESOURCES TO PROTOTYPE

Current ENTR students struggle to produce quality MVP's with limited available resources

SO WE INTRODUCED 3D PRINTING

1 PRINTER WAS NOT ENOUGH

NEXT WEEK WE INSTALL 35 3DP's

TRANSFORMING ENTREPRENEURS INTO DESIGNERS

• To conduct Customer Discovery

• Produce High Quality M.V.P. (Minimum Viable Product)

NOT REPLACING ENGINEERS / DESIGNERS

• Necessary after the prototyping phase

• Creating entrepreneurial designers

ELIMINATING THE GAP BETWEEN ENGINEERS /

DESIGNERS AND ENTREPRENEURS /

STUDENTS

ENABLING MOMENTS OF INSPIRATION TO BURN

• Rather than die waiting for a return call

• Or large invoice to heavy to get a project off the ground

• 3 months becomes 3 days

3D PRINTING LAB IN A BUSINESS SCHOOL

If an MVP is equivalent to 1,000 slide decks. Beautifully designed MVP's will raise the bar of our Startup teams by an order of magnitude; From great Startup ideas to fundable Startups.
