2008 Mount Holyoke/Smith Invitational
Mount Holyoke Site RulesWelcome to the 2008 version of our tournament – thanks to Tim Bacon for the use of his rule sheet!
We have a lot of teams traveling a long way to play, and a few teams playing several matches at more than one site. In order to be considerate towards these teams, and also to teams playing the last match of the day prior to a long trip home, there are a number of rules that need to be observed at the Smith site.
1. Teams MUST arrive on time in order not to inconvenience teams that have matches at other sites or whom have travel arrangements to respect. The WSF 15-minute default rule is in effect and any team arriving past the 15-minute limit will default the fi rst round or matches (evens) – no exceptions.
2. Introductions must take place 10 minutes prior to the scheduled match time – WHETHER OR NOT THE MATCH BEFORE HAS FINISHED. If there are no available courts, introductions can take place in the racquetball courts.
3. If no courts are available at the time scheduled for the start of the match, match play MUST start on the fi rst avail-able court.
4. Teams are welcome to hit and warm up on any empty courts prior to the offi cial start time of the match. If available, courts must be split equally between the two opposing teams.
5. Teams participating in this invitational are NOT ENTITLED to an on-court hit or warm-up prior to the start of the match other than the offi cial 5-minute knock-up (10 minutes for the second round of matches). After the fi rst match of the day it is likely that there will not be courts available to hit on prior to the match. Coaches must plan and prepare their teams accordingly.
6. The fi rst team listed on the schedule posted on the MHC website will be the HOME, except if the second team is MHC, in which case MHC will be the home team.
7. The HOME team is responsible for collecting the score sheets at the end of the match, recording the results on a summary sheet, and giving the summary sheet to the Tournament Director immediately following the match. The Tournament Director will report the scores to the CSA.
8. Squash bags must be placed behind the blue railing on the side of the indoor track.
9. The Tournament Director will be reminding coaches 15 minutes prior to the match that introductions need to occur 10 minutes prior to the offi cial match start time – please cooperate and assemble your players quickly.
10. Trainers will be available during the tournament period – they are located in the hallway near the women’s locker room.
11. Each team is responsible for providing match balls – two each and a coin fl ip decides who furnishes the 5th ball.
12. Tournament Co-Directors are Pamela Saunders (646-283-54040) and Kanae Haneishi.
Please don’t hesitate to contact if we can make you visit more enjoyable!
