Faribault Public Schools strives to empower, engage, and energize all students through its commitment to a quality education and creating an effective learning environment. This action plan outlines our goals and strategies to improve student learning. The plan is intended to serve as a foundational document that aligns educational initiatives from pre-kindergarten to post high school graduation. In 2017-2018, 85% of four and five year olds at Falcon’s Nest Preschool within McKinley Early Childhood Center (MECC) will increase their letter and word knowledge rating to “building-middle” or higher as measured by Language and Literacy Development (LLD9) on the Desired Results Developmental Profile.

English Learner
The Department of EL Services administers programs for English Language Learners with the goal of developing English language proficiency and achieving state content-area standards, while simultaneously valuing their native languages and cultural backgrounds.
Mission: The Faribault Public Schools' programs for English learners strives to enable students of limited English proficiency to develop their intellectual, cultural, and self-concept skills necessary for success at Faribault Public Schools and for their future. The students will accomplish this development in an atmosphere of understanding, cooperation, and support.

The mission of the Faribault Public School District Professional Development Program is to inspire leadership, promote continual learning, and reflect on effective practices to enhance student achievement through collegially planned learning opportunities.
Goals
Curriculum: To provide comprehensive staff development opportunities in all areas that support best practice in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Throughout the curriculum cycle, we are aligning outcomes to the state or national standards.
Academic Progress: To provide opportunities to learn, apply, and analyze various data systems available within the district (MCA, MAPS, DIBELS, Etc.) to guide instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Technology: To provide a culture of innovation to integrate technology into all curricular areas for student outcomes aligned to 21st century skills and beyond.
Equity and Excellence: To increase awareness and understanding of biases that serve as barriers to achievement including bullying, mental health and socio-economic status.
Teacher Growth and Development: To advance the Faribault Teacher Growth and Development Plan and to continue our probationary teacher mentor model using the Danielson Framework for Effective Teaching, which is designed to enhance the professional practice of all teachers to increase student achievement.

ADSIS – Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instruction
Provided instructional support to assist students who need additional academic or behavioral support to succeed in general education.
AVID- Advancement Via Individual Determination
A system which prepares students for success in high school, college, and career, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
CAST –College Ambitions Start Today Structured afterschool program that focuses on students’ paths to college.
