Robert Stüssi

ELTIS – señor del mes

Robert Stussi - almost three decades in Portugal - and in the world

After 35 years of Switzerland, Canada, Portugal and Latin America I returned to Portugal, where I kept staying for the past 30 years

The last decade - besides my E-Mobility voluntary work and consulting work in Portugal - was marked by my involvement in EU projects and networks: ECOMM, EPOMM Plus, By Pad, CIVITAS MODERN Coimbra, COST, etc.

I also organized and moderated many conferences and workshops and acted often as EU evaluator.

The past three years I was expert for the Institute IMTT, which developed the “Mobility Package” – a series of guides for SUMP’s, Mobility Management, Transport components of land use plans, etc.

The nineties E-Mobility and more

With an EU THERMIE project for Hybrid buses I started my 15 year activity in E-Mobility; a key project: a 3 years demo project with electric mini buses (introducing Bordeaux’s blue line concept) in 25 Portuguese cites, 8 of them now having permanent lines, Almada as a flexible service.

In 2004 I organized the first European E-Mobility conference and in 2009 the EVS24 world symposium in Stavanger, NW (and co organizing EVS25 in Shenzhen, China)

Still being president of the Portuguese EV association, I was president or the European and World associations.

The eighties Roaming Portugal and Africa

In the early eighties I developed with a team the 1st Manual for Mobility and Transport for cities and regions (published in 1984).

I also specialized in studies for centre bus lines and flexible services for small and medium municipalities – for 25 cities of which 20 implemented the bus lines, though few flexible services..

In the meantime I worked often in Guinea-Bissau, Cape Vert, Angola…

Questões a debater
