Ramboll’s district heating services to Sheffield district heating is ongoing and includes: detailed design work of connection of new loads; masterplanning connection of new developments; and pipe and pumping upgrade programme to cope with future loads.

District heating system in the Copenhagen Region

The system supplies almost CO2 neutral heat to more than 50 million m2 area corresponding to an annual heat demand of 30.000 TJ.

Ramboll has provided various services to the transmission companies and most of the distribution companies. Our assistance to the first companies began more than 45 years ago and today most of the companies are among our clients.

WASTE TO ENERGYWe have been involved in the planning, procurement and commissioning of more than 40 waste-to-energy plants, some 20 upgrades and extensions, and numerous studies around the world

Waste to Energy facility – Isle of Man

Ramboll is the lead consultant in the McCarthy-Ramboll joint venture, which was appointed in 1997 to be the Client's representative of the new waste-to-energy facility.

•Primary waste incinerator - 65,000 tpa of municipal solid waste/commercial waste

•Secondary waste incinerator - 5,000 tpa of clinical/animal waste and sewage screenings.

•Waste from 77,000 inhabitants.

•40,000 MWh electricity per annum and has been prepared for heat production.

Ramboll has followed the coal-fired power plant’s life cycle. Ramboll was involved in the construction of the plants, advising on subsequent extensions, and responsible for the demolition and rebuilding when boiler plant became outdated.

The next stage in the cycle is to develop a full-scale Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) demonstration project

Flowlines and transmission pipelines on Gjøa, Norway

Ramboll has been responsible for the design of a new 131 kilometre 28" gas export line to the UK for StatoilHydro. The Norwegian Gjøa oil and gas field holds an estimated reserve of 82 million barrels of condensate and 40 billion cubic metres of gas.

The flowlines will connect five seabed templates with up to 17 oil and gas wells. Ramboll has also designed the 55 kilometre 16" oil export line connecting Gjøa to the Troll II pipeline, which carries oil from the area to the Mongstad oil terminal.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENTRamboll has many years of Environmental consultancy experience both onshore and offshore for industry, oil and gas, road construction, airports, ports, bridges etc.

Implementation of the EU IPPC Directive

Ramboll is developing the ability of local and regional Romanian authorities to implement the EU IPPC Directive. Ramboll Romania also provided supporting the development of sustainable partnerships between environmental authorities and the private sector.

The project focused on training administrative staff, stakeholders and operators. 220 people from the environmental authorities and 200 representatives of the stakeholders were trained in IPPC.
